This was my third event in the past two months and I had a fabulous experience with HMU in both Canada and Tacoma. So, please know that I am someone who frequently leaves a salon feeling happy and beautiful. Unfortunately, with Smoak, they left early and I was able to spend an hour correcting my HMU before my event. Two artists arrived and worked at the same time. One in the front and one in the back. To begin with, I asked for a natural look. Here were my makeup issues: -the lip liner was crooked- literally-one side was higher than the other -my eyebrows were enlarged and several shades darker than my natural color -mascara smudges and flakes under each eye -I kept telling my artist that there was a hair in my eye and she said ok and kept working. I kept trying to remove the hair but was in her way. This happened a few times and was frustrating. Here were the hair issues. I have beautiful curly hair and usually diffuse my hair curly. The artist told me not to do that, just to make sure it was dry. The inspiration picture I showed her had tight curls with horizontal twists and provided a floral hair piece. I received a hairstyle that appeared flat ironed and curled at the bottom while being frizzy at the top. The hair piece was placed high on the top instead of low like the inspiration pictures. Had I been readying for a stage play, I would have looked pretty good. However, for my wedding reception, they missed the mark entirely. They finished early by an hour and I had time to remove the enlarged eyebrows and reapply brow makeup, remove and redo the crooked lip liner/lipstick, remove the smudges under my eyes, and adding more curls with a curling iron. I'm posting the pictures of how I looked after other artists in Canada and Tacoma and then how I looked when the Smoak HMU artists left. I'm really sad about it all. I ended up feeling barely "presentable" instead of stunning and beautiful as I had from the previous HMU artists. Unfortunately, I'm not looking forward to my wedding reception pictures and am overall really unhappy

My hair looked like it had been wind blown and unfixed. For $60.00 plus a generous tip I really can't afford to drive as far as I do to be disappointed with my hair. I had a work emergency and was unable to make it to my appointment, but unfortunately that did not matter. I could understand charging 50% of the booking fee, but 100% is simply outrageous. I made another appointment under the impression that the fee would go towards the haircut today, but that was not the case. I am now out $130 for a simple haircut. I was charged $65 for a no show due to an emergency, and $65 for the haircut I received today. It was a great cut, and I enjoyed my stylist, but I'll never be back on the principal of the cancellation policy. If you go here, I would recommend walk-ins only, because heaven forbid you get in a car accident, or your child gets sick. This salon has a no tolerance policy for emergencies. This was the first time I had even visited or made an appointment here, so it has left a very bad impression.
