The women doctor is not compassionate to peoples feelings . The waiting room needs to be bigger and more friendly and welcome. The receptionist is very helpful and hardworking and she gives you a service with a smile. read more

I was in and out within a few minutes! Now I am thinking of registering here to see a doctor, but probably not, as the parking is very minimal and always presents a headache as there is usually nowhere to park.

I personally had a good look through the NHS choices website, but as most people only bother to review places when they are angry... so it can be scary reading!! It makes it sound like all the doctors in this area are useless with reception staff that have been replaced by trolls - eep! This review is in case other yelpers move to Walthamstow and have a similar difficulty choosing a GP! Addison Road Medical Practice is just around the corner from Walthamstow Village...it is quite a residential area, and there aren't many sign posts nearby, so take a map the first time you attempt to get there! I called ahead to find out the best time to come in and register. I had to fill in quite a few forms...and then needed to set an appointment with a nurse to finish the registration. The Brilliant bits: * I have never been kept waiting for a long time here. There is a sign in screen at the side of the reception. This morning I signed in, and was called to the doctor within 2 minutes...then I was out with a prescription within 10 minutes. * They always keep some appointments free each morning. If you call at 8:30, you can get one pretty easily. The downside of this is that you might need to wait for a non-urgent appointment. * The building seems new-ish and clean * The reception staff are friendly, although have little time to help as they are so busy. * It's NHS, so fixes you up for free (^^) The less-brilliant bits: * You aaaaalways need to hold as the phone line is always busy. * The place seems pretty big, and can be daunting the first time you go here. No-one bothers to instruct you how to get to rooms...so I just wandered around looking at signs until I spot the right consultation room. * There is a board that tells people the doctor is ready to see them...but no announcement. The first time I went there I was not told to sign in/watch the board, so I nearly missed my appointment. * I found my doctor quite unapproachable...He did give me antibiotics for my chesty cough, but his brisk manner made me unwilling to ask him other questions. *sigh*
Sniff cough cough, sniff…read more... I knew the say would come when I would be feeling a little under the weather and think to write up about these guys. Basically this is a NHS walk in centre with a proper doctors surgery attached. It's a little bit of a weird building anyway, like a little portable home that has been plonked behind a large fence and had a NHS sign plonked on it. I have to say that the people who work here are lovely, you can catch them on an off day and yes if you do just walk in expect to wait 3 hours, but as far as centres like this go, this is one of the best. There is loads of waiting space and a pharmacy right next door in the Morrisons so it's super continent. There is the Brooke Road surgery about 10 minutes walk from here but it's not a patch on this place. Oh and the doctors are friendly and the nurses caring! :O)

I'd recommend to anyone thinking of using this centre to avoid at all costs- there are other centres in stamford hill and stoke newington where you will be treated with a little respect and sympathy.

First of all, lady says "hello???" one second after she asks a question-time after time again-not giving one time to think. As an autistic person, I don't expect the neurotypical world to accommodate me but phone calls are hard as it is, no need to rush things. No matter how clearly and slowly I said "her", ', and "she", for my girlfriend, she just couldn't grasp that someone is able to identify differently than her. I wasn't able to speak to the doctor for her test results even though she was next to me in the end because that kind of invalidating behavior at reception makes it very difficult to continue conversation with someone-my girlfriend heard everything and is now distressed. This kind of rude behavior is why the trans suicide rates are so high. On top of this, if her name is Janet, we have asked for her to be removed from my girlfriend's care, so I have no idea why she was even there in the first place.

This is a busy practice and although I've never had a problem getting an appointment at a time that's suited me, you may experience a slight delay going into the Dr's room. The reason for this is not bad planning on the part of the surgery receptionists, but the time and care that the Dr's give to each patient. You are made to feel like your concerns are valid and that you are valued as a patient. The surgery receptionists have a tough job and most have a reputation for being hardwork and defensive gate-keepers, but I can truly say, if you're polite and fair with this clinic's staff, they will always show you the same respect, plus some! I know for many years I was looking for a Dr with a bedside manner as good as Dr Haas' and Dr Smeaton's and now I proudly tell people I've found it!
