We came in for dinner after walking around and trying to find a suitable place to eat. It looked…read morefine and seemed welcoming with the "friendly food" sign. We sat inside. They were advertising Lowlander beer so we took this opportunity to try the different flavors of Lowlander. Only one was on tap, however, so all the other flavors came from bottles and were poured into the glass. This was a positive note from our dinner. I was most disappointed in the food. Maybe this is my fault because I ordered the poke bowl. They had all types of food but this is what I went with. Something wasn't quite right with the fish. Based on this experience with the food, and the plethora of other options in Groningen, I won't likely return soon.

Dislikes: wait staff was completely self absorbed and rude. Strange system of only being able to order with the female waitstaff. When it came to paying, we were not allowed to pin outdoors whilst a neighbouring table could so we were sent in to pay at the counter. Only to get a disgruntled staff who was not happy that we were sent in to pay. WTF! Also NOT dog-friendly. 1 communal bowl which was almost empty and sitting in the full sun next to the entrance, means you have to navigate your dog through the crowd to get to it. Our waitress also stepped on our dog's paws... Stupid approach to pet owners given your cafe is smack in the middle of a large park in Groningen.

Over the course of two months, I think I came to this restaurant about five times. It might be my…read morefavorite in Groningen. There are three floors. When you make the reservation (and you really should make a reservation), you choose where you want to dine. The menu also differs, depending on where you sit. On the ground floor, that's the restaurant. I've dined there the most. I love trying their cocktails and their bitterballen aren't that bad. You almost can't go wrong with the dish that you choose; they also change and rotate so it might already be a different menu. I sat upstairs once. It was a small plates sharing menu with more cocktails to try! In other words, it was a more extensive cocktail menu. Every time I've been the food and the cocktails have been excellent. They also have beer in case you just want to do that. The decor is fun and quirky with an Indiana Jones/Jungle Cruise flavor. I would highly recommend getting a reservation if you're in Groningen.
