Over the course of two months, I think I came to this restaurant about five times. It might be my favorite in Groningen. There are three floors. When you make the reservation (and you really should make a reservation), you choose where you want to dine. The menu also differs, depending on where you sit. On the ground floor, that's the restaurant. I've dined there the most. I love trying their cocktails and their bitterballen aren't that bad. You almost can't go wrong with the dish that you choose; they also change and rotate so it might already be a different menu. I sat upstairs once. It was a small plates sharing menu with more cocktails to try! In other words, it was a more extensive cocktail menu. Every time I've been the food and the cocktails have been excellent. They also have beer in case you just want to do that. The decor is fun and quirky with an Indiana Jones/Jungle Cruise flavor. I would highly recommend getting a reservation if you're in Groningen. read more

Fantastic food, attentive and friendly staff, very cool setting. The menu is international and offers a tasty sampling of dishes from all over the world. The star of the show here though is their crazy good cocktail game. They make dozens of in-house liquors with their own distillery and it is incredible. Ask for a tour and they will show you the whole process, which is fascinating, and they have a special chef's table that distills a custom liqueur for your party that you can watch being distilled tableside during your meal. Usually come for lunch but we needed to dine fast. Three tips: order the spareribs, make sure you have their house made fries with a cute dip in a half orange, and order the tuna tataki! OMFG what a tataki. I know it's kinda old school but damn.... The cafe is nice and cosy with cute and interesting decorations. The staff is mostly students so bear with them. Ended up at this restaurant by chance after taking some pictures in front of the university. Turned up to be quite a good choice - all what we choose, pasta, fish and chorizo were great. The selection of cheeses as a desert was also very good and the service was great. read more

The Food was very tasty, the waitress (Maartje) was very attentive and wonderfully friendly. The prices are reasonable. They have a restaurant and a bar section. The first has an open kitchen, the attraction of the latter is the robotic arm that fetches the shot orders from a wide range of homemade liquors. Nice place to spend all night. Great place for a quick bite or a nice lunch. A very original menu with fascinating twists on Dutch and exotic (Mexican, Asian,...) classics. Slower & Lazier ribeye tasted magnificent, and the vegetarian quesadilla was a feast as well! Nice terrace just next to the Academy. Worth it! read more

This is a nice & cozy place to eat and drink. Not too fancy but not cheap either. It has a relaxed atmosphere and tasteful decoration. Food is quite OK but not special. We have eaten many places in Europe and we're surprised at the food --overall-- in this area. Not very imaginative, but good. Then we found Mr Mofongo. Service is awesome, personal, friendly and attentive. Steven and Archie took excellent care of our party of 8. The food was delicious! The nachos are a fresh warm and spicy dish. We also ordered the curry shrimp and it got rave reviews. Drinks are creative and made with their own distilled gins. Can't go wrong here. Prices are just what they should be and from the 7 year old in our group to the grandparents we were more than pleased. Ate upstairs in the well-lit dining room. The restrooms are lovely- be sure to take a minute and go all the way upstairs! We will definitely be back! read more

Popped in for a coffee and a snack. Good coffee is easy to find throughout Holland, and this was pretty good also; perhaps a little small, but this was more than made up for by the accompanying complimentary walnut brownie! We had a toasted sandwich and the asparagus soup, which both very good - especially the toastie. The missing star is for the lack of WiFi and no English menu. Apparently they don't provide WiFi because they don't want business types coming in to work and taking up their tables all day.... read more

Had a very nice rice with chicken dish. My wife had the Thai soup and a salad. My daughter had pasta pesce, and her boyfriend had spareribs. Friendly staff, cool atmosphere and a great bar upstairs. read more
