International groceries like soy sauce, vinegars, olives, Bond's clotted cream fudge can be bought here. A selection of bitters are popular for cocktails and quite a few Indian stores are now carrying them. I was here for Indian mangoes which were available at $60 a box. There were also Mexican mangoes that had an irresistible perfume. One should always buy mangoes that look and smell divine. Nerob from Bangladesh was the manager here and after chatting in Hindi told me that I was like his sister. Hallelujah!That's all one needs as then bargaining is easy. I am fairly good at this and can whittle off a dollar here and there. I bought two Kesar mangoes from India and two Mexican mangoes for a reasonable price. Both parties were satisfied. She went to verify the price, came back mumbling something, and when I politely asked her to repeat herself, she responded with an attitude, saying, "Yeah, you don't hear?" I calmly explained that I felt she was being disrespectful even though I had not said or done anything rude to her. She responded by saying, "Yeah, yeah, customers always think they're right." I even repeated myself in Spanish because I initially thought perhaps there was simply a language barrier and no disrespect was intended, but she continued arguing. Another employee who stated he works there said the supervisor would not arrive until after 10 a.m. It's unfortunate because the rest of the staff are pleasant, but one person's negative attitude can easily push loyal customers toward the many other stores in the area.
