It made for a good Instagram, however, yesterday we went to Blacker Hall Farm where we ordered afternoon tea - only to be treated to larger sandwiches, a giant scone each, and three unique delicious desserts. This far exceeded my expectations and also was quite a bit more tasty than Betty's. Would definitely visit again soon!

We have been using Ramsden Butchers now on and off for a number of years. However, over the last…read more12 months we now use them as our main butcher. Whilst it is not the cheapest, especially with the prices from the supermarket, the quality of the meat is second to none. We use a lot of lean minced steak, and that's exactly what you get, extremely lean, and when cooked, you haven't got to keep tipping fat from the pan. The taste is lovely! Ramsdens also do a good range of prepared meats, ready to cook, so no messing, just straight into the oven. Chicken Roasties...Chicken breast wrapped in Bacon. Pork and Venison Roastie...Pork fillet, stuffed with venison sausage, wrapped in cured bacon. Beef Wellingtons Garlic Chicken Breast. We have also tried a range of different pies from Ramsdens, pork pies, pork and apple pies, Steak Pies (superb), Chicken pies. I have to say, these have all been very nice and no complaints so far. They have a good range of sausages, all freshly made in the shop and the bacon is also sliced for you at the counter so you can select exactly how thick you want it. Their meat is also extremely good. We have had some very good Rump steak, Pork chops, Pork fillets, and the stewing steak is so tender, it just melts. Overall, a very good butchers, a good range of meat and good service too.
