I wasn't thrilled with the work done. Original quote for painting our house was a 'special deal', and 2 coats of dunn-edwards paint was part of verbal agreement. Got 1 coat of Sherwin Williams paint that was watered down enough to leave drip marks after drying. It was applied unevenly and they needed to return. The 2nd coat was not applied to entire house and they painted the rocks to my house. Although they did clean up their mess when they had 1st come out, they left a mess in the front and back yards the 2nd time, as well as getting paint all over my rose bushes and grass, as they covered nothing up on the 2nd trip. Daniel and his son, John, are quite personable and accommodating, and for all I know one of their painters was having an off week. I still have patches that had been missed completely, but I will do it myself, as I wouldn't need to do if it had been done right the 1st - or 2nd time. Calling a 3rd time for a continued poor job of it would seem to be a learning disability on my part. read more

UPDATE: Daniel did reach back out and paid for the repairs to the irrigation system and had his team complete the job on my balcony. I'm Thomas's neighbor and tagged on to the work done on his property as we are neighbors and have the same wood. I was similarly underwhelmed by the work done but accept some blame as well as I did not question the scope of work as Thomas did (not that it mattered). I just moved in and had a lot of irons in the fire so to speak. I would like to add the the treatment did not include the back side of the open fencing and balcony from the best of my knowledge as we were never instructed to move anything off balcony that would have clearly been in the way of applying anything to the wood- stain or otherwise. Additionally, the team damaged my irrigation line with their ladders and I arrived home to a flooded out patio after work was completed. I did inform Daniel about the repair cost and he claimed he would cover it but did not return as promised to provide payment. Thankfully I did not have nearly the same amount of wood as my neighbor so this was not as costly as a mistake but I would still be wary of hiring. read more

Daniel just completed a wood siding refinishing project for me. The wood was beginning to fade from the beautiful red-brown color to a more grey-yellow look, and I wanted it restored to the original finish. I had used a different contractor two years ago, so I discussed what that person had done and the materials he used (Deckwise Ipe oil). Daniel was not familiar with that oil, so I showed him a picture of it. Daniel told me he preferred to use a different material and would actually use a stain on the lower fence, since it would better handle the wear/exposure that the lower fence would be subjected to. Daniel told me it would be a 4-day job with a possible need for a 5th, since there was a lot of work to do. Everything sounded reasonable, so I signed the contract Daniel had prepared immediately after our conversation. Daniel's crew performed a soft wash of the siding and then applied a clear protective coating over the wood. That's it. The 4-5 day job was at best 3 and an hour or two. And the results speak for themselves. The wood is maybe the slightest shade darker, but there is no noticeable color improvement at all, especially considering this was intended to be at least a 4-day job. Daniel also informed me as his crew was wrapping up that he was unable to find a stain for the lower fence that would match the rest of the siding, so his crew would just be applying the clear coat. The lower fence, which is partially shaded, is actually now TWO completely different colors - half is the faded grey-yellow where it is exposed to the sun and the other half is a rich red-brown color where it is constantly shaded and protected from rain. Normally, I would say it was simply a terrible miscommunication between us and move on, but I had made it absolutely clear that I wanted the color of the siding to be restored. And given that the lower fence will be two different colors AFTER Daniel has completed the work boggles my mind. When I brought this to Daniel's attention, he claimed that we had never discussed any of this and that the contract said he would only use clear-coat. And he was right. The contract says what it says, and my reading of it without understanding painting terms let that slip by. None of the extensive conversation we had moments before he wrote up the contract in his truck was in this contract. There was no mention of the color I wanted for the siding or the materials I wanted to be used. I guess I really overpaid for some clear coat. It is 100% my fault for assuming that Daniel would attempt in some way to do what we had discussed. We had even talked about working out an annual maintenance plan for Daniel to return each year to freshen up the look of the siding. Clearly, that won't be happening. If you just want to get a sense of his work. Take a look at the pictures. For the money I spent, there is no meaningful difference. The person I used 2 years ago made a dramatic transformation, and he made sure the lower fence was stain and scratch free (as well as one consistent color) before he asked to be paid. Overall Daniel's team did a good job repairing the stucco, painting my house and the trim. Daniel responded quickly to call calls and problems. Daniel came back with his helper to do touch ups when requested. Their were a few problems: Contracted to replace a door and then refused to do it, contracted to put metal trim at the bottom of the garage door and instead placed some kind of adhesive pad and painted over it for a rumpled effect, promised to complete work before payment due and then requested partial payment before the work was completed and lastly refused to accept payment made out to his company's name and would only take a check written out to his personal name.
