That said, the course could really benefit from clearer signage. Several pads weren't well marked, and we even had to skip a hole because we couldn't figure out where it started or ended. Since we only had time to play about half the course, we found ourselves spending more minutes navigating than throwing. I can't imagine how tough it must be in the summer when everything is fully leafed out -- it's probably like searching for a needle in a haystack. My son and I traveled to ATL for the PPA pickleball championships this past weekend and we pretty much spent every waking hour at this facility from Thursday when we arrived until late Sunday night when the tournament was over. We spent the majority of our time either playing pickleball or watching pickleball (both on the indoor and outdoor courts due to some rain), but the facility did a great job (along with the PPA) in navigating the large crowds and keeping the tournament going. We enjoyed some food from the cafe, the locker rooms, and of course the courts and the rest of the grounds as well. We were lucky to be traveling with a friend who purchased VIP Parking, so that was a nice touch... and medaling in some of our events helped make the experience even more fun too! Shoutout to Suzanne on the Life Time pickleball staff! If I lived in the area, I would definitely be spending time here more often - likely taking advantage of open play... The dog park is sectioned off for large and small dogs. My review is based on the large dog park. Half of the park is filled with gravel makes the area cleaner than most after a rainy day. The other half is like a forested area with dirt. On hot afternoons, many dog owners and their pups gather in that area to keep cool. PROS: - 3 water stations - Multiple poop bag dispensers that always stocked in my experience - Lots of benches throughout the park - Wash off area outside the park - Almost always occupied with dogs throughout the day - Gravel - Convenient walking trail entrance adjacent to park - Well lit parking lot and park CONS: - Some days, there's more poop on the ground than others. Not too bad though. - The wash off area can be cleaner - Not close enough to home :( Parking is plentiful. The league will tell you they can move you to a new team if you don't get along or are mistreated by the team you're assigned to, then they will wait too long or end up not bothering/lie and tell you it's too late as apparently this league is too serious. Even if there are games remaining in the regular season. If you like having rainout games not being made up and credits not being offered as stated in the terms and conditions then go ahead and sign up. If you like being told specific rules have been disregarded because of apparent captain votes the league didn't announce go ahead. If you want to be assigned to a field you didn't sign up for with no explanation or apology, then be scheduled to play starting as late as 10pm go ahead. This is a ripoff and inconsiderate. I have been polite and am being treated like crap. Don't bother discussing refunds in any circumstances. They probably wouldn't give one even if they cancelled the season. If the league disbanded they would probably try to give you leftover shirts as a comp instead of your money back. After being absolutely trounced in a tennis match on New Year's Eve 2012, I made a promise to…read moremyself that 2013 would be my year to become a better player. Then I kind of forgot about my promise. Cut to the beginning of 2014: I was finally ready to realize my dreams as an amazing tennis player....or at least be able to hit a serve into that square on the other side of the net. No one in my circle seemed to have time to wedge in a practice with me so I turned to Craigslist and promptly found a dozen strangers who were interested in the game. I consulted Google and ended up using an old-school (but surprisingly helpful) website (www.tennismaps.com) to locate tennis courts between me and my newly found practice partners who hailed from everywhere from Midtown to Buford. That site landed me at the beautiful Hudlow Tennis Center, improbably located just off of Jimmy Carter Blvd, not too far from where it intersects with Buford Highway. Hudlow Tennis Center is a part of Best Friend Park, a 43-acre public park that also contains a playground, a trail, outdoor basketball courts and 2 outdoor pools, baseball fields, indoor badminton courts and a gym amongst it's sprawling grounds. The tennis courts are located towards the back of the property and seem to almost run into a residential street just behind them. There is an actual staffed tennis center that's open during the week until 9:00pm and on weekends until 6:00pm. The center was already closed for the day when I visited on a late Sunday afternoon so I was unable to go inside and explore. From what I could see, it was a well-kept facility with a lobby area that sold drinks and supplies. There were also full bathrooms (showers included) on the inside of the facility. There are 17 lighted courts on the premises. Courts 1-4, located directly to the right of the Tennis Center, supposedly stay lit until 11:00 or 12:00 each night -- this is really cool considering that most courts close up shop by 9:00pm each night. The other 13 courts are located slightly off to the left of the center, just past one of the trails that winds through the park. My impression of the place was that it was a gorgeous, little-used, well-maintained treasure hidden in an unlikely place. The courts were very clean and well-lit. The benches inside the courts and bleachers outside were in great shape. Parking was ample. I felt completely safe in this beautiful park and was almost surprised when I saw a cop car slowly patroling the area. To further sweeten the deal, we didn't have to pay court rental fees because we came on a weekend after the center had closed (after 6:00pm). Normally, the court fees here are $5/hr for singles play and $14 for 2 hours of doubles play. The only downsides I noted was that there didn't appear to be a practice wall and that I wasn't able to locate an external restroom facility in the vicinity of the courts. After having played at another facility a few days before where I had to park far away and pay $20 for 90 minutes of play on a dusty, dirty clay court, this place was like a little unexpected miracle. Unfortunately, when we booked his camp this year, we were notified 3 days later that I was being transferred for work to another state. When we asked for a refund, they told us there was a $60 processing fee that was non-refundable. In spite of being repeat customers, and funneling our son's friends to their camp as well, they would not budge on this, despite the short gap between the purchase and the request for a refund. You would think with how many camps there are in the Atlanta area, they'd work with us to maintain a good reputation in the community. This is a dishonest practice and we will discourage our friends in the area from using their services in the future.
