I dealt with Steve who was exasperated that the "system" was not followed - apparently you need an Action Line or something- but that is for Avis, the AA and the repair shop to haggle about. He did not have the exact tyre needed in stock but ordered one and said to return the next day. When I did, the tyre was there but Avis had still not contacted HiQ which meant that they did not have the authorization to go ahead and put the tyre on. I had paid for full coverage and showed this to Steve who made several calls, and finally got the go-ahead. The tyre was put on in minutes and I was back on the road. Thank you, Steve! I know it was annoying, but really the renter has no clue about the "system" and I was told one thing by the AA and another by him. Avis were clueless when I called them so were no help.

Unfortunately however the new tyres were over-pumped to BAR 2.7 when they should have been pumped to 2.1 BAR. The lockable dust caps that were fitted to the car, despite providing the key to unlock were broken off and replaced with cheap, generic, plastic replacements however, leaving me out of pocket. When questioning this I was met with a rude and passive-aggressive reaction from a member of staff, sternly telling me off, saying he would not be able to remove the tyres otherwise (this is not true) the key could have been used.
