If I could give negative stars I would. This company should be avoided at ALL costs.
I hired Dominic to do some routine landscaping work including carving out some new planting beds, removing a couple of stumps from the front lawn, aerating the lawn, planting a tree, filling in some holes/low spots in the lawn, mulching the beds, and over seeding the front and back yard. I had used D&S on a larger project a few years back and they did a great job. This is NOT the same company; the quality has declined dramatically.
D&S did such a lousy job on my property. I had to redo all their sub par work. They came back twice to fix the issues, but never did or could not perform the work quoted.. There is grass growing in every planting bed and ALL the holes that were filled have sunken in. Edging was done with a spade an a 45 degree angle about 1/4 inch deep. I had to re-edge several of the beds that I paid D&S to edge but were unable to because there were rocks in the way, I did this with a hoe and my foot. (none of the rocks were larger than my fist)... And I am acutely aware that D&S did not clear ANY of the beds of weeds and or grass before just dumping less than 1/2 inches of mulch on them. I know this because I actually started planting in the beds and had to remove all of the weeds and moss and grass MYSELF. There is grass and weeds coming thought Every planting bed.
This was the most disappointing transaction I have ever had with a company. Every communication with D&S was met with "you misinterpreted that" or "we can not do that because...". The quote was clear and what I asked to be done was quoted in language that matched what I asked to be done. The price was competitive; neither the lowest nor the highest. For example: I had two (2) tree stumps in the front lawn that I wanted removed. D&S came and removed 1. The quote clearly states "remove stumps from front lawn". When I asked to have the second stump removed I was met with arrogance and told that "we never spoke about two stumps". When I inquired about the poor quality of the edging I got the reply "there were rocks". Additionally, when Dominic came to quote the work, he said he could fit me "in in a couple of weeks". he showed up 2 months later while I was interviewing other companies to do the work. When I asked why it took 2 months to start when we agreed on a couple weeks he said I 'misunderstood him"
There are so many choices for landscaping companies out there, chose one that understands what your landscaping goals are rather than one that just wants to collect a payment. read more
