We were going to d&m for years. The guys that work there are great. Good people, sometimes over promise on deadlines which could get frustrating, but for the most part thought we had found ourselves a good local mechanic. I noticed Ashley's 2009 Lexus was leaking in the driveway. I used to work on my own vehicles and have a good understanding of "car stuff". I checked the fluids, levels were fine. Told her it was safe to drive, but we should get it fixed because who wants a car leaking fluid? Brought it to d&m, they said it was the power steering rack big repair! But hopefully this would be the last major repair before we got a new vehicle. Let's just get it done. Power steering rack replaced (~$1500). It was still leaking! Ugh. We brought it in again and they said it was the power steering pump (~$800). Now, anyone with some common sense would think there was a possibility this was a misdiagnosis and the rack was never leaking. I thought this was a legitimate concern to ask about before we got the pump replaced. Including my own opinion, I asked 2 mechanic friends of mine and a third friend who used to own a repair shop. The consensus was it was likely a misdiagnosis. Maybe not, but most likely. Armed with this information, I politely asked the shop if there was a possibility it was misdiagnosed. I am the type of person that never likes to accuse someone of something if I might be wrong. I got immediate pushback from the owners son- no way, they are in two different places, we've been in business 50 years. If you don't trust us you can go somewhere else. Ok- even if it was leaking in both places (unlikely), we should have been told this up front that it needs both a rack and a pump. If we knew it was going to be $2300 vs $1500 maybe we wouldn't have gotten the work done and replaced the vehicle. But the response to a long term customer was totally inappropriate and unacceptable, disrespectful. We already made the decision we wouldn't be going there again, but let's just get it fixed. Still leaking! Go back in, we are told now that it is leaking from the front differental. I recorded the conversation with the owner, who responded the exact same way as his son. Great service. I've brought my vehicles here a couple times for inspections and tires and have always been happy. They have always been able to turn the cars around right away (I grab a coffee or food and it's done). Once I brought my own tires in to be mounted and they were did that as well. read more

I HIGHLY recommend taking your car here!!! Stay away from corporate auto repair shops (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep) and support your local mechanics. These guys are honest and thorough. I brought my truck in here to get a second opinion about an issue I was having with my front suspension. I was quoted $500+ by a local Dodge dealership (I will leave that part anonymous) and they stated I needed to replace my front stabilizer bar and bushings. Since I just had work done worth $2500+ in California, I found that to be suspicious. Johnny and Bob got me in right away and did a full work up. And to my surprise: nothing was wrong. I only need a tire rotation and balance! Thank you for helping me out and not trying to charge an arm and a leg. I will be bringing my car here in the future. read more

Failed inspection. Okay, fair enough. Fixed vehicle myself and went back. Got third degree on what was done. I had gotten no bad codes or anything for 2 weeks after that. Was told only had one free inspection left. They did everything to get me to change my mind and have an $800 repair done by them. Decided to have the one "free" recheck done anyway at which point the guy dropped the F-bomb, turned to his mechanic and yelled "hook it up once and get it out of here" The vehicle passed. read more

I went in here for the first time a few weeks ago. My mother's car was having a knocking which the local mechanic up the street kept misdiagnosing and charging my mom over $850 in needless work, or at least work that had NOTHING to do with what we brought it in for...knocking. They never solved the problem. After explaining the knocking and other diagnosis(es). Bob took a look at the car and we went for a test drive. He explained why he thought is would be the wheel bearing. He also confirmed that the other work done at the OTHER mechanics had in fact been done, but he said he had no way of knowing whether it was needed or not...(never going back to Getty). I had a price quote of 425, from Getty, up the street. I had another estimate of 292, from my sis's mechanic in Warwick. My mom wanted to stay on island as she doesn't drive off island. John gave said he would call around for an affordable piece (wheel bearing unit) which would be more like my quote from Warwick. I didn't mind waiting, as I preferred staying "on island". WallaH! His last estimate was $329. and they guaranteed that the knocking would be gone after this repair. After getting the car back. Problem solved. This is our new mechanic. They didn't match the price I got in Warwick, but they came close enough. I appreciate everyone there and the efforts they make, fair pricing, and guarantee in work. read more

I will NEVER even consider thinking of D & M Tire ever again (such a shame and multiple bad moves on their part - as I was a consistent customer for 5 years!). I dropped off my vehicle, which I recently purchased and am passionate about, on Tue night for scheduled Wednesday morning service. I called at 4:30pm on Wednesday to check in, they told me they hadn't even touched it (didn't even bother to call to notify, which meant I lost Thursday's day of work. After two Uber Rides ($40), I paid them $489 to repair my both my front brakes (and an oil change) they left Rusty Dust splatter ALL OVER the Passenger side; on the trim, in the door jambs on the windows and everywhere on the front rim of my White Suburban emanating from the Front Passenger Brake/Wheel (see pictures, notice color difference between Front and Rear rims). Then when I went back to politely ask them what happened, they denied everything and said, "I wondered what happened. It was there when you dropped it off." and walked back into his office. Thanks to D & M Tire, I will be spending a day cleaning and restoring my truck w/o out scratching the existing finish or white paint. And they don't have an answering machine to leave important messages after hours/weekends. Absolute "DIS-service". I'm glad you got my money, but you'll lose more in the long run, from not having repeat customers and viewers who will go some where else after reading this. I have been here twice. The first time, they did a great job, but my car smelled like cigarettes for a week afterwards. They are a little bit pricey. The second time I was not as impressed. The mechanics were not very professional. I decided to take my business else where. read more

I just went to D&M for a car inspection. They were very friendly honest and reasonable. It took them longer then anticipated to finish the inspection so they gave me a break on my bill. I definitely will be coming back here for future car repair. read more

DO NOT bring your car here. I brought my car for an alignment after buying brand new tires. Shortly after the car felt out of control and when I had it checked a few thousand miles later the rear tires where down to the steel belt due to the alignment being done incorrectly. I brought it back and they did replace the tires and do another alignment. I was worried about their work due to what happened so the very next day I took it to another garage who reported the alignment was not done right again! read more
