So I wanted something to hold up well over time. We decided we must build two retention walls to terrace our yard so we can have a nice entertainment area for the family and friends to enjoy the nice summer days in WA state! After extensive research of numerous types of blocks, from different manufacturers. I've decided to use Mutual Materials. All because SafeCo Field was made from this company! Went down to the nearest branch (Auburn) from the house. Upon entering, there's not much to see besides pallets of blocks and blocks and BLOCKS, all stacked outside! So I went in to their showroom. I was able to feel each types of blocks, see the different colors and textures. And was crazy enough to lift one of the blocks, just to see what an 80-pound block feels like! Gahhhhhdam! Colton, one of the guys work behind the counter was very nice and patient with me. He listed out the price and weight of each blocks for me, per request. At the time I had two small children with me and builders/customers weren't bugging, so did the staff there. As everyone know, going shopping with kids aren't always the most pleasant experience. But I felt well treated here, didn't get the stink eye from anyone haha! So for our retention walls, I've decide to go with the ManorStone in the NW Blend color (64lbs). The caps, I got it in charcoal color to offset the natural wall color. For the benches, I got the fractured-face cinder blocks in charcoal gray color. We've gotten so many compliments from our neighbors and family members already! Way to go, Mutual Materials! Keep producing blocks!!

The people running the counter did have a little trouble knowing if they were on hand. But we got the correct ones. When it came time for loading they load the bricks for me . It was an alright place and if I need bricks I will go here first since they did seem to have what I could not find any place else. They were fast and helpful when it came to it.

I had them come out to check on known leaks in two skylights. One of their people, Jeremy, came…read moreout. I asked him to look for other issues as well. He identified seal failures and a few other problems on several other skylights as well (and I verified easily later-- I don't spend a lot of time staring at my ceiling ;) ). This was not a shock-- house was built in 1992 and skylights do not last forever. I did have a couple other firms come out to look at the roof and Northwest Tile Roofing was the only one which identified other real issues. Example: everyone else missed a leaking skylight in a walk-in closet; Jeremy saw it right away. The other good part is that they were fine with me sourcing the windows independently (a family friend has a window business); they still charged for installation and removal of the old windows, but that was happening regardless. Finally, the price was what you would expect for a crew of ~6 people for 2 days, but the roof did not appear to have had much if any maintenance done to it over the last 28 years. I will be hiring them for annual maintenance going forward. Great company, great employees too.
