It is a way for the department to raise funds through its women's auxiliary, and has been open since the middle of the last century. We were there for a political fundraiser for the incumbent county commissioner. Her campaign committee had booked five comedians for the evening, and served a taco buffet to keep us nourished. The grub was adequate, which is more than can be said for the majority of stand ups taking the stage. They were so bad that we were laughing about it. Only one or two had shining moments. Still, we weren't there for chuckles, but to support the woman who had served the county well over several terms in office. We trusted her to continue to do so.
