Brilliant French Cuisine at Winchester City Centre!
Food was decent, staff was friendly, and the interior reminded me of a modern/English version of an American diner.
Going through what we ordered:
* Calamari (part of the prix fixe or £8.5): clean & crisp
* Salade Rachel (£7.5): had way too much mayo, but loved the fennel!
* Steak Frites (part of 3 course prix fixe £20.95): the steak was very chewy, but had great flavor! Fries didn't stand out much, but complimented the steak well.
* Confit Duck Bigarade (£18.5): love love loved the duck!!! and everything about this dish for the matter; finished the plate clean. The orange sauce worked well with the duck, and made it taste very similar to chicken. I loved the subtle golden beetroots! Yum! You won't regret this dish!
* Dauphinois Potatoes (£4.25): tastes like Mac & Cheese, but yummier. I love the fact that I'm eating potatoes rather than flour from macaroni noodles. Great choice of side.
* Blueberry Clafoutis (part of prix fixe): decent, very much like blueberry crumble; husband loved it.
* Ice Cream & Sorbet (part of prix fixe): regular ice-cream
Beware: Finding parking is difficult, but there's a parking garage a couple of blocks down (£1.8 for 1 hour; COINS ONLY or pay through RingGo). Thankful to the staff who lended us £3 for the parking garage; we were so worried about getting a £70 ticket... We had no coins and our phones wouldn't receive verification codes from RingGo... read more
