We went back home from this station a few days later. It was easy to get in and through security. We headed to the premium lounge - there was one other person there. I tried to get some wine from the spigot and I could not figure it out. Luckily- the one person there had done it before. He showed me how to have to select the wine on the electronic part to turn on the spigot, and then you can pour. The Orlando station has wine but doesn't have that electronic control board. So that was confusing but I was happy for the assistance from a random person. Thank you random person! I tried two of their wines and made myself a little dinner plate. They had meatballs in marinara and a chicken Alfredo fettuccini dish in the hot part. The cold part had a charcuterie board with rolled up meats and sliced cheeses. They also had hummus with pita and garlic bread. There was an attendant that came through to check the stock and replenish things. They brought a brand new meat and cheese plate while we were there. They're not checking very closely though because there was a long piece of hair tangled around the utensil for the fettuccini. Pretty gross but also that's what you get when it's an unattended buffet. There was plenty of seating and each chair had a port to charge your devices. We were comfortable as we waited for our train to arrive. They have non alcoholic drinks as well as coffee and teas.

Each visit, we've opted to take the Brightline from FtL into Miami. The train is economical, fast, efficient and clean. You can purchase tickets at the customer service desk or online. The station in FtL is small in comparison to the large expansive station downtown Miami. The Miami location has multiple eateries and plenty of seating. Trains operate on an every hour basis. I used the option to keep from driving into the city and paying for parking.

It has a creative architectural design that makes it more pleasant to not only look at, but inhabit and circulate. My standard critiques that the station and rail lines were evidently contemplated to build upon the locational efficiencies next to the freeway exist, but at least in addition to facing a (too) massive surface vehicular parking lot, it's design is carried through to the bus stops and on the other façade, faces mid-size office buildings within nearby walking distance that it proves its utility in its immediate context. Otherwise, it is unfortunate that this station is disconnected from the more walkable areas of Oakland Park/Wilton Manors, thus relying more on automotive transportation for the "last mile" travel - again, partially but proactively made-up for with the bus/public transit integration by the cities and County. I must continue to emphasize as with other Tri-Rail stations, there's not enough benches nor trash cans. There's also the standard anxiety if the train is coming, if you're on the right platform, the trains don't run late enough. But I must say in sum, it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-suburban-car-dominated-megalopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better.

You can't beat the price and included shuttle to and from the airport. Brightline is too damn high to begin with, extra $10 for the shuttle which doesn't run late so you have to uber to the train station. Nah son...tri-rail it is! These service plazas are left lane exits so it can be a challenge getting over when the traffic is heavy but once I made the ramp the layout here makes it reality easy to navigate and access the truck lanes to get to the separate diesel pump island. The fueling island is remote and like most truck fueling you have to prepay inside prior to pumping, this is quite the walk past the Tesla Superchargers then through the gas pumps, I purposely under estimated how many gallons I needed so I wouldn't have to make a second trip inside to get a receipt for the actual gallons I pumped so I definitely missed the mark on filling the tank but I knew I'd stop again once I got closer to home so I could put her in the garage with a full tank in preparation for our next trip. As expected the inside was extremely busy I think I was at least 10 customers back to pay, they did have both registered staffed so the line did move rather quickly. It seemed everyone was ordering food so that wasn't an option even the wait for a cup of coffee was more than I was willing to wait so I made a cup in the Keurig once I got back in the bus before getting back on the road - overall a pretty good experience...

Later in the evening the busses were very full and we had to wait for two busses to go by before getting on one at Tropic Cay. Every place is so different from the last and they all have very decent drinks given they're free! I believe it was Lucky's that even had champagne as an option. The busses are a lot of fun as long as you get on with the drunken group of people falling all over the place, it's so much fun to watch them all. We found some pretty cool spots that any other time we really wouldn't walk into. The only stop that was a letdown was Fork and Balls- which looks awesome inside and smells of amazement as well, but the bartender claimed to have "Ran out of liquor" at 9pm on a Saturday night- so apparently they were pretty bitter and unwilling to stick to their agreement with the Bus Loop. Minus crappy service from the one place, I would definitely do this again and again. It's a fun night out for a great deal.

I then tried to book the new dates at The Blue House but was told my credit expires 28 days before our trip and there was nothing they could do about it. Apparently, the "owners" felt they were being overly generous and burdened in carrying credits during the pandemic and now that travel is opening up again, credits must be used immediately or lost. I imagine this might be a great place to stay under normal circumstances, however, I feel their Covid credit policy to be extremely unreasonable and will have to accept the loss and find other accommodations.
