Stopped in today during a busy travel day after the Thanksgiving holiday, the traffic on the turnpike was pretty heavy and since I didn't fuel the RV on the way down to the Keys I figured I should top it off anticipating some stop and go delays. These service plazas are left lane exits so it can be a challenge getting over when the traffic is heavy but once I made the ramp the layout here makes it reality easy to navigate and access the truck lanes to get to the separate diesel pump island. The fueling island is remote and like most truck fueling you have to prepay inside prior to pumping, this is quite the walk past the Tesla Superchargers then through the gas pumps, I purposely under estimated how many gallons I needed so I wouldn't have to make a second trip inside to get a receipt for the actual gallons I pumped so I definitely missed the mark on filling the tank but I knew I'd stop again once I got closer to home so I could put her in the garage with a full tank in preparation for our next trip. As expected the inside was extremely busy I think I was at least 10 customers back to pay, they did have both registered staffed so the line did move rather quickly. It seemed everyone was ordering food so that wasn't an option even the wait for a cup of coffee was more than I was willing to wait so I made a cup in the Keurig once I got back in the bus before getting back on the road - overall a pretty good experience... read more

Ordered via the kiosk - a Dave's double with only ketchup, pickles and onions on it. Took a photo of my order, since they repeatedly get my order wrong at this Wendy's. They did this time, too - they gave me the double hamburger, dry, nothing on it. When I pointed this out to the young man behind the counter, he became very rude and obstinate, telling me that because I had ordered "no sauce", that meant that I didn't want ketchup either. I said "No, 'no sauce' means 'no sauce', and 'no ketchup' means 'no ketchup'. They are separate options on the kiosk menu. I wanted ketchup. I didn't want sauce." He kept insisting he was right, even after I told him "That STILL doesn't account for the fact that I wanted pickles and onions on my burger, and didn't get that either." After several back-and-forths in which he STILL insisted he was right - even after I showed him the photo I'd taken at the kiosk before I'd submitted my order - he snottily said "Do you want a refund?" I answered "No, I simply want what I ordered - and without the side of attitude. Remember, I'm the customer - I'm supposed to always be right." So while he grudgingly re-prepared my order, he was grumbling and trying to make his case to the other customers, who were very obviously on my side. I left by saying "Everybody better check their orders when they get them, because this is par for the course at this Wendy's. No wonder the chain seems to be failing. The two Wendy's closest to me have both closed within the past year. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I come back in six months and find this place gone also." It's a shame I was in a bit of a rush, otherwise I'd have gotten this young man's name and reported him to the service plaza's manager. With his attitude, I can understand why he's working at Wendy's instead of, say, performing neurosurgery. For my part, if I get hungry on my way down Florida's Turnpike, I will definitely NOT be patronizing this place again. read more

It is a very small plaza , but everything is accessible , they have enough parking even though the whole area is very small , they also have a gas station very close by, the toilets were clean and the people that serve the food were very nice how ever we ordered a small pizza from Pizza Hut and it tasted very old and dry , so I'm not too sure if they have the food there for too many hours since not that many people come by, but overall it's a good place to stop by read more

I love a turnpike rest stop with it's mall like atmosphere as opposed to a I-95 stop which is strictly vending machines. This rest area has both north and south bound exits. It is located at mile 65 on the Turnpike in Pompano Beach, Florida. Even though I pass by this rest stop all the time I have never needed to come in but I have always been curious about it. I was on the road and thought my tire was low so I finally took the opportunity to stop and look around. The first thing that struck me was how tiny this rest area is. I don't think it is even a quarter of the size of the one at Port St. Lucie/ Ft. Pierce. Even though it is small they still managed to fit in one of those plastic blue flame fountains. Dining options include Dunkin' Donuts, Wendy's, and Pizza Hut. There is also a Main Street Market where you can pick up snacks, drinks, and road travel essentials. I wonder why Pompano got such a small rest stop. To its benefit, unlike the larger ones north you can park against the building and you don't have to go football field lengths to reach the restroom. I loved that the Citgo offers free water and air and they have a drive through windshield cleaner. The Pompano rest area might be small but it has what you need, food and fuel, to get you back on the road. read more

The Pompano Beach Service Plaza proved to be a welcome pit stop during my commute from an offsite location to work. As I refueled and grabbed a quick bite, I found the restroom facilities to be clean and well-maintained, and the parking layout for the gas pumps ensured a smooth flow of traffic. There is also plenty of EV charging stations if you're in need. Inside, the attendant was courteous and polite, allowing me to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation. With the nearest plaza being 30 miles away, the convenience of this stop cannot be overstated. In terms of gas and snacks it's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. One delightful throwback feature was the nozzle that shoots water at your car as you exit, a nostalgic touch that has remained unchanged for decades, adding a fun twist to the experience. Idk, it's cool. If you're considering a pit stop, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping here to take a breather and enjoy the amenities.stop, regroup, give your engine a moment to cool down get yourself something cold to drink, you deserve it read more

Loved how there were plenty of parking, both near and far from the plaza. Many options of where to park your vehicle if you're planning on sleeping in it over night. I felt extremely safe and the bathrooms were super clean at night. Although once morning came, those bathrooms were a disaster. It's a shame to see how people don't know how to clean up after themselves. Dunkin' Donuts was the only restaurant open for the times I walked in. Great for late night snack or early morning breakfast. If I'm ever on a long trip and need a place to rest, I'll definitely stop here again. read more

My first visit here, I was pleased with the layout We stopped for fuel along our way and found this location to be convenient. With plenty of fuel pumps available, they also had charging stations for EVs. Once inside, the restrooms were adequate for the traffic at the time. The food court was spacious, with three nationally recognized brands offering their wares. For two restaurants, ordering was done either online or at a couple kiosks. I opted to use the old tried and true walk-up and grab a personal pizza approach. I paid for my selection and was seated, enjoying my fast food meal while others were still at the kiosk. On our most recent stop through this rest area I was completely underwhelmed. I looked in the little gift shop area at the food they had available and such and there really wasn't anything I could have. I did need to get a bite to eat so I checked out their offerings. Dunkin' Donuts definitely is a no-no so I avoided them. Pizza Hut isn't the best choice in the best of times and the pizzas and such that they had on display did not look appetizing at all. In the end, I decided to just grab something at the Wendy's. Not the smartest move, as they prove they can totally screw up your order. All I wanted was a single plain with cheese and it was too difficult for them. One of the biggest issues was the child labor being employed in the restaurant. There were two children working inside the restaurant that couldn't have been more than 8 to 10 years of age. The adults were paying a bit more attention to them than they were to the customers or the actual orders. A sandwich and being completely playing with no cheese on it but I received an order of french fries so I consider that a fairly even deal. The burger was fairly dry but mostly edible. The french fries were so so. About the only thing this place was good for was getting fuel. As we entered the rest area there was a big sign out front that said the restrooms were broken. To be fair the men's room was half under construction. I have no idea what was going on in the ladies room, this place was very disappointing. read more

I wouldn't normally stop here. This is the closest plaza to my place, but after spending half the day in traffic and being dead tired, I stopped. That and seeing a sign saying to take a safety break only convinced me. To top it off, I desperately needed to go to the bathroom and I had a pounding headache. I needed to take care of things ASAP before screaming bloody murder. It was that type of night, but hey, nearly twelve hours on the road does that to you. Who cares that this was twenty minutes from home? Bathrooms were spotless. I felt so much better after going. Then I stepped into the convenience store and bought some Advil. This all took less than ten minutes. Upon popping that pill, I knew I'd feel better, and true to that statement, when I got home nearly a half hour later, I was so happy I stopped at this plaza. If for only my gratitude, I am rating highly. Seriously people - it was the worst long-distance drive of my life and I've been doing road trips for over a decade! read more

Stopped here on the way out of Miami. We stopped on the way in town, mainly for a final gas up on our way into town. This was the only really service station we stopped at on the way into Florida, and was very impressed by everything. The place is very updated and modern. The floors were very clean and concrete. Shiny and well maintained. The walls were painted modern style and the walls leading into the bathroom and into the stalls were mosaic tile that was very clean and good looking. There are three food places within the place: Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, and Pizza Hut. There are planets of seating and also a convenience store within the building that services gas station as well, We went for Wendy's and I ordered a chicken sandwich, staff was very friendly and the food was standard fast food. Nothing more or less. Also got an iced coffee for a pick me up before heading back to car. Woman working at DD was awesome! read more

I don't usually stop at this service plaza because it is the closest one to my house. I can usually wait to get fuel and snacks locally. However on this trip to Orlando, my growing boys could not wait for food! Like most of the Turnpike service plazas, this one has been redone. This is one of the smaller service plazas. There are only three types of fast food available with limited seating, and a store. The main facility, including the bathrooms are very clean. I found the types of food available to be disappointing: Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, and Pizza Hut. No, I am not expecting gourmet food at a rest stop! I just wish there was more variety or a place that that I did no see on every other block. Some service plazas do have sandwich shops or healthier oriented alternatives. The store had a nice variety of snacks and drinks. Great place to use the facilities but be aware, eating options are limited! read more

I really can't say anything bad about a service plaza. They are pretty much the same. Depending on the time of day, the Dunkin' Donuts shop could have a long line, but there is a good cup of coffee and donuts waiting for you on the other side. Sometimes there is an outside vendor that sells the Riverland fruits. If you have out-of-town guests staying with you, a bag of these fruits is a real treat. read more

The Florida Turnpike Pompano Beach Service Plaza is big, spacious, clean and rather up to date. The only drawback to it is that it only offers three restaurants, being a Dunkin' Donuts, a Wendys, and a Pizza Hut. For the first time in my life, or at least as I can recall, I tried a Wendys burger and have to say it was rather good. Though nothing super special, had a rather decent meat flavor to it and the counter help proved exceptionally professional and polite. The unique thing about Pompano Beach Service Plaza, or at least unique to me as I've never seen one before, is that it has a "Family Restroom" which is one big restroom equipped with a sink and sit down toilet which probably works out rather well if you are a family with small children. I however found it somewhat amusing as some of those gathering in it were obviously not families, and unless they all were engaged in taking time consuming bowel movements, whatever they were doing in there seemed to take much longer than one might expect. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat off of the Florida's Turnpike. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and modern the building was. Three restaurants to choose from (Dunkin' Donuts, Wendy's, and Pizza Hut) along with restrooms, water fountains, and a Shell fuel station conveniently next door. Also had plenty of brochures on local things to do in the area. Would highly recommend as an oasis off the turnpike for the weary traveler. read more

Just stopped at this service plaza in Pompano. The Wendy's staff (3 of them stood there talking to each other and pushed people to the kiosk machines (wouldn't take order). unfortunately, the kiosk machines weren't working right. So people just said fine, and went to the Pizza Hut. Then on top of that, there wasn't a person manning the Dunkin Donuts for 30 minutes. A woman finally went in the back and we guess found the kid somewhere back there, and he came out and started taking orders. listen, if your staff is not willing to work and take orders for people, you shouldn't even bother opening. If you have limited staff and have to "close" for some reason, at least put out a sign "closed for xxxx time). people stand there waiting and never get service. this was on 1/21 at approx. 1:30ish. read more

One of my favorite things about a road trip in Florida is driving along the turnpike (sometimes it has less traffic, sometimes not) and stopping at these for a quick snack, something to drink and a clean rest room. These stations are about every 30 miles, so they're never far from wherever you are. You can pick up a sandwich, a tee shirt, a Sunpass (to pay the tolls electronically) or just stretch your legs. They always have gasoline and surprisingly, the price isn't bad. You can get in, fill up and be on your way or stay for lunch and relax out of the car for a bit. This is the one that I generally always stop in first because it's the closest to my house. I pull in and fill up on all the junk I'll need for the trip. But they're all basically the same. I haven't found one yet that I didn't like. read more

Traveling on the Turnpike, heading from Miami to Orlando and back, there are only a couple of rest stops I will go to. And this is one of them. As often as I traveled the turnpike late last year to early this year I became very familiar with the rest stops along the way. There are some I would drive by even if I had "to go". The Pompano Beach Service Plaza is one of the best because they have many places to choose from to grab a bite to eat. It's fast food and they have some of the popular ones like Dunkin Donuts and Pizza Hut. I would always grab a breakfast sandwich for the road. The convenient store is where I would get my coffee. Usually a french vanilla coffee with french vanilla creamer would keep me awake on the road. The restrooms are spacious and offer the kind of privacy you'd want to have in a restroom. It seems like someone is always cleaning up either with a rag or a mop so it feels clean and comfortable which is important in places like these. However, on a few occasions I have gotten a rude service clerk while ordering my food. I noticed it wasn't just me who experienced this. Customer after customer had the same complaint. I think this was as a result of the language barrier between us, but still, it's why I gave them a 4 star review instead of 5 stars. Someone really needs to address this. read more

I would say that the bathroom was not the cleanest but I saw an employee trying her best to clean it as it was being used. The good - This "service plaza" / rest stop is relatively new, so everything is in good condition, and signage to enter/exit the turnpike and to park, get gas or visit the main building is abundant and clear. This service plaza contains a Shell gas station, a Dunkin' Donuts, Wendy's and a Pizza Hut. This is actually one of the smaller rest stops along this portion of the Turnpike. The bad - Though this service plaza was just recently designed and built, it seems way too small to service the amount of people who visit here and stop for food. The men's restroom had someone in every stall, and when I was considering grabbing lunch at one of the restaurants, the long lines of people purchasing and then waiting on their food quickly deterred me. I stopped here on a Sunday at around 2 p.m. and the line to place an order at the Wendy's was at least 10 people deep and it probably would've taken 10 or 15 minutes before I could place my order. Needless to say I made the decision to drive to the next exit, get off the Turnpike and find another place to eat. read more

This is one of the newest service plazas on the Florida Turnpike. Very beautiful, very clean. Very clean restrooms. Stop buying get a bite to eat, pick up a coffee, and get that souvenir that you forgot. This is a trend on the Florida Turnpike right now. They are upgrading all of their plazas. I found prices of food and beverages comparable to what is in your cities and towns. I also noticed that the price of gasoline is competitive also. If you have never been to one of the service plazas on the Florida Turnpike. Don't be afraid, they are not going to take advantage of you. This is the most beautiful plaza I've ever seen. Everything is extremely clean. The decor is surprisingly beautiful with stone walls new bathrooms etc. My favorite part of this plaza is the outdoor pet park. Gated area to let your pet run free and go to the restroom.
