Add to that some techs just not doing a great job anyway. So, when I find a place that gives me good nails, I am loyal. This is my third time going to 167 Foxy Nails and I already have an appointment for a fourth! My first time was with a different tech and tbh, it was nothing special. I was not impressed. The nails were thick, and uneven. My favorite part was the very neutral jelly color. I decided to give the salon another try, and am happy I did. This tech examined my nails while having a brief consult on what I'd like. I told her I wanted the same color & shape (boring, I know). She tried to find the color through like a million test swatches, but never got a match. That's when she got to work! She filed down the thickness of the acrylic, taking her time to not only look (from different angles), but to FEEL for smoothness. That's when I knew I was going to walk out with good nails. She perfected the coffin shape, and took care of any stray cuticles. I was happy with my nails for the first time in years! Over the next few days, I'd look down at them and smile. And not only did they look good, they were durable! It took at least three weeks between each fill, the nails grew out, but never lifted. The last visit I had the original nails removed. There was no prying with a metrocard, or any other strong arm tactics. Just a soak in warm acetone and filing. Another consult on what I'd like and together we came up with the almond. The pictures make my nails look like pink M&Ms, but that's just my poor picture taking skills. The salon is appointment only, and I've never been made to wait when it was time. It's a small space, but doesn't feel stuffy. This is my go to spot for the foreseeable future.

So I decided to go in person in case they would take me in,but no they are strict. It was highly recommended by a friend for great service , with getting the look your going for.

Rafaela started by telling me about the sugaring wax process but I saved her the trouble because I've been doing sugaring for over 4yrs. Her set up was clean and she was professional and sweet. Rafaela takes pride in her work and it really shows. Thank you for a wonderful experience and if I'm ever in NYC again and in need of a Brazilian I know where to go. A plus was there was another lady there that was also very nice and did a wash and set for me and cut my end in my hair.

She did an excellent job informing me about the benefit of sugaring and how it's different from waxing. I learned that unlike waxing, the sugaring process does not use any chemicals. I got my arms and upper back done. (Just in time for hot sunny days) Process: First she put powder in the area being treated and then she applied the sugaring material. I must say that sugaring is less painful than waxing! I enjoyed that it also took less time to get the work done. Drawbacks: When it was time to pay, Stephanie asked a women name Rafaela for a price. After thinking about it for about a minute she said $70. It is unbelievable that prices aren't posted and she randomly comes up with prices front the top of her head. Will I come back? No, just because I like to knowing the breakdown of what I'm paying for.
