I really wanted to love Cycle Bar. I have friends that love Cyclebar and it is true that the dangerously loud classes come from a select few coaches.. not all. Great amenities, helpful staff, fantastic package deals. What I couldn't move past was the ear drum bursting (literally) music during the class. The class was so loud that my eardrums both burst and bled. I felt extremely faint and disheveled after the class. It's took a few hours and an emergency trip to get back to feeling normal-ish. Since my first class last year, my ears haven't been the same and there are challenges hearing. My experience is not everyone's but I feel being transparent about the noise is important. I don't want anyone with sensitivity to noise to have a bad experience or waste their time. The staff was kind to extend my package, as it took a few months to work up the energy to visit again and finish the 10 class package. I was desperate to cycle - as my two blown out knees couldn't handle other forms of fitness. I tried to finish the package but had to stop due to the painfully loud classes. I want to share that the staff took my situation seriously and found a specific bike AWAY from the speakers. My remaining classes were spent on that bike and with ear plugs. I have been to this CycleBar location quite a few times, and I have always enjoyed my experience. Honestly, cycling isn't my favorite workout, so I personally would not want a membership here, but all of my experiences have given me a good workout. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, and I always feel welcomed and motivated to work out. Wooooooh.. just finished my second class at CycleBar and I'm still sweating but definitely smiling. This is a fun workout to push your limits. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly face who showed me how to check in and grab my complimentary biking shoes. It's a great environment of bright colors and clean surfaces to get ready in. Once you walk into the biking room, you can just feel the energy. Find your assigned number bike and start peddling. I did have trouble getting in and out of the biking peddles, but there were trainers available to help you out. They turn down the lights and turn up the music to help you get in the zone. You can view your score at the end of the class to see how you rank up against the class if you're competitive. You get 50 minutes of power music to just keep pushing by turning the dial. read more

It may seem silly to do a review update on a place you gave 5 stars to and you are still giving them 5 stars but I wish I could give CycleBar 10 stars. It is such an amazing place! Like I said before, I am a workout fanatic and it is difficult to impress me. The instructors and staff here are the best around. The atmosphere is wonderful and there are lots of little extras like hair dryers and dry shampoo that smells wonderful from Dry bar. The instructors are the absolute best part of the experience. When I leave class, not only am I dripping with sweat, but I feel happy and calm. Emily, Sarina, Erika, Danielle, Kelley- all bring such good energy. I am so thankful I found this place. I LOVE Cyclebar!! I've been looking for ways to switch up my workout routine, and cyclebar has always been a place that I've wanted to try since it opened. I saw a Groupon for $39 for 4 classes and saw it as the perfect opportunity. Even better, they offer a free intro class for newcomers. The place itself is small, but gorgeous. I love the modern style, the iPad station to sign in at, locker and powder rooms, and the studio. Inside the studio are about 40ish bikes, TV screens that show your progress, and multi colored lights that change while your working out. The staff are really nice, I came in telling them it was my first time and they let me know everything that I needed to do. (Including helping me when I locked myself out of the locker, LOL) The classes are SO fun! But fair warning, you will be worked out, and you will be worked out hard. My impression was of an easy, laid back intro class but it was intense! It's still very enjoyable though, with music blasting, racing, and all that. There are also so many different classes you can take, like Selena Gomez vs. Flo Rida or Tone It Up Tuesday's! I also love how after your class, there's a fruit bar with free bananas and apples, complimentary water bottles and a water machine. I already booked my next class as soon as I got home! read more

I had a great class at the cyclebar today! This place is so upscale. I was checked in by Sarah, who' was very nice and informative. The check in process was quick and easy. They provided shoes and towels. I got a free water bottle for my first class, and even better, first class is FREE!! Inside the class, air conditioning was blasting and I was very glad because I knew it would be a sweaty session. I enjoyed the music they played and the instructor Paige was very friendly and motivating. I loved having my name called out, it made me tried harder lol. After class, there were snacks waiting (cookies, bananas, apples, etc), two shower rooms that you can use, and a nice little room to dry and style your hair, everything included (hair dryer, straightener, pony tail holder, hairspray, lotion, etc) . Let me start with the fact that I love spinning. It is one of my favorite workouts and I used to teach it a few years ago. I came to a class for a fundraiser and I love that they give you the option to have fundraisers here! Cyclebar has an easy registration online. They also have spin shoes available for you to use there so you don't have to worry about your feet coming out of straps and you are locked into the bike for secure movement. The staff is very kind and helpful. The entire studio is very clean. When you walk in you see cubby holes with the shoes that you reserved. They will be numbered by the bike that you selected when you registered. So you don't have to worry about being stuck at the front of the class! Once you walk back towards the class room, there is a wall on the right with classes and fun things written there. To the left there are lockers with locks included. You select your code and lock the door. There is a water bottle fill station with 2 chilled spouts and 1 room temperature spot. They have bathrooms stocked with toiletries you might need and an area to get ready with mirrors. I enjoyed the class and had a towel and weight waiting for me on my bike. I will say that when we started the smell in the room was awful. I am sensitive to smells and it smelled like sweat. I liked the stats that show at the front of the room. The music is great and you can download it after. They send you your stats in an email after also. The instructor was wonderful. Paige was attentive at helping us get our bikes set up properly and payed special attention to people in case they were struggling during class. I highly recommend this place. The one star off was only due to the smell. I had a tough time with that! This is a great workout and a wonderful spot! read more

This is one heck of a workout & you leave feeling great! I love how energetic the place is - it always motivates me to push myself and have fun while working out. I have always been a fan of cycling classes, but this place is unique due to its first class bikes and technology, being able to do everything online (booking your bike, buying more classes, etc.), grab a healthy snack that is free after your workout and fill your water bottle up at the high-end water dispenser, lock your belongings in a secure locker room and receive a towel and cycling shoes for every ride. This workout always kicks my butt and I love the competitiveness with seeing where I lie on the main boards in the cycling room. Plus, once you finish your workout, you receive your stats and really know how well you did during your workout. The only cons are it is a small facility, so after your workout, it is very hard to get to your locker because another class may be waiting to get insider. Also, it is an expensive workout, but to me, I love the workout so much that it is worth the cost. If you are thinking about it, I would recommend going to GroupOn and buying their 4 rides package for new riders OR if you think you are going to love it, I would go to Cyclebar's website and buy the 10 rides package for new riders. I would go with the bigger package since you will more than likely love it :) Also, my favorite instructor is Kelley - she gives very short breaks (which is exhausting) but I feel like I work harder in her classes and she is super motivating! read more

Zero stars. I signed up for a founders membership but this franchise falsely represented their opening date every time I called to ask when they would be opened. They also have very few time offerings through out the day- not ideal for a working person with kids. The classes I've attended have been next to empty. They should do a better job noting where the ceiling lights are located- have been blinded by a spotlight that flashes over my head. I'm accustomed to the schedule, full room energy and customer service of Soul Cycle when I travel for business. Cyclebar does not match up or at least not this location. Disappointed. read more

Clean facilities and super fun classes. I also have to say the customer service is really nice. I purchased a trail pack early last year but when I did so, no one explained to me that unused classes expire after a month. I called when I was having issues booking online and the woman I spoke with renewed my entire trial pack for another 30 days. So thoughtful. My one critique is that there are not enough classes on the schedule. No classes are offered during lunch hours and generally there are only four classes offered during the week... so there's not a lot of flexibility when trying to work a ride into your schedule. I hope they add more classes soon. read more

This place made me remember why I love spinning in the first place. I want a class that is energetic, where the instructor is encouraging, the music fits the class, and I feel like I'm getting a good workout in. I've tried several places since moving to Louisville that left me incredibly disappointed. CycleBar is the first that did not. It's not for everyone, but there's something about having the lights off in the studio that makes the whole experience more intense. It's harder to see what's going on around you, which makes you focus on you and your own workout. The lighting combined with the music makes it feel like the best version of a frat party or dance club, which I love. OK, maybe not a frat party since it's super clean and no drunken frat boys are creeping on you. But it still creates a fantastic atmosphere for a workout. The front desk staff was so helpful for my first time and didn't mind that I managed to both show up to the wrong place (I was supposed to be in Middletown) and lock myself out of my locker. Emily was a great instructor. My only complaint is the location - Shelbyville Road and Middletown are so inconvenient for me that I won't be able to make it a regular part of my life. But I'm going to come back when I can. read more

I had never had an interest in spin classes before. Riding on a bike in the same spot in a gym wouldn't hold my attention span unless it was in front of a TV during a Law and Order marathon. Then Cyclebar came into town and invited Drybar to come take a class. I had no idea what to expect or if I would survive a spin class so I could work Drybar that day. I loved it. It works out every part of your body. The music is upbeat. The instructor Kelley explained what we would do next and keep the class motivated. Again loved her music selection too. I came back to another class today and brought a friend and she loved it as well. Cyclebar is running some great specials and package deals so now is the time to purchase. Cyclebar is as it sounds, a cycle studio, located off Shelbyville road next to Trader Joe's. This week until December 18th, Cyclebar is offering free classes, which is what got my attention. The free period was described by my instructor Jady as "the soft opening like when you tell the restaurant that the food actually sucks", but of exercise classes, so they are oiling the wheels. And while they are working out the kinks of their routines and the flow of the class, I am fully confident that this place will be a go-to for me. First of all, signing up for a class is super easy when you make an account on their website. All you have to do is pick the day and time and add yourself to the class of your choosing. The best part is they don't require you to have a membership, you just pay per class with the option to buy multi class packages. When you get the confirmation for your class, they email you a bike number so once you get there, all you have to do is sign in and get your bike shoes out of the assigned cubby, and find your bike! There are free lockers, which you choose your code for each time, so no need to bring a lock. I didn't look into the changing rooms... but they exist. Now onto the cycling: there were able 50 new Schwinn spin bikes in their studio which faced a mirrored wall behind the instructor. On each bike is a four or six pound bar, which is used during the incorporated upper body portion. During the 50 minute class, the music is loud and the lights are dim which sets the mood for a sweaty endorphin high. You can go as fast or as slow as you want, but for those who love a challenge, a leader board is projected up on a screen in front of the class. You can always opt out if you don't like that element though. After the class the locker space was a bit cramped with everyone pouring out at once, but getting in and out was easy enough for me. I did not see any showers in the changing space, but to be honest I didn't look that hard so don't quote me. There is a bin to drop your clipless shoes (did I mention they provide shoes??), which get sanitized between each class, and a towel bin for dirty towels (did I mention they provide towels??). I am super pumped for the next class, and will definitely be signing up for one of the $10 per class packages after the free week is up. read more

Let me preface this review by saying, I've never taken a spin class so I have nothing to compare this experience to....with that being said, it is definitely an amazing workout for all fitness levels and you should definitely give it a go at least once. I don't think there will be another experience in the Louisville area like the one you'd get here. I saw months ago on FB that a CycleBar was coming to Louisville and you could win "x" number of free rides by liking their page, etc. Intrigued by a spin class I starting looking at their other location websites and social media pages to get a feel for what the class/company was like. Every page and yelp site user raved about their local CB so I went ahead and made an account so I would be one of the first to know about their opening. Fast forward to Dec and CB is open offering free classes for two weeks. I jumped at the chance to sign up for a class. The website is extremely user friendly and asks basic information. Once you are registered as a user, you simply pick a class time, check the box if you need shoes (they provide them for free) and then you can pick a seat number (there isn't a bad seat in the room because of theatre like seating). I showed up to my class early and nervous, but was quickly greeted and put to ease by the owner. She introduced the instructor and gave me a quick tour of the place. You check in at the kiosks located above the shoe rack. Once checked in you grab your shoes, which are located in a cubby that matches your seat number, and walk around the corner. Once around the corner the lockers are located directly in front of you with a few benches, to your immediate left are water containers, fresh fruit station and free water bottles. If you walk towards the lockers there are two little hallways. The right hallway has a powder/dressing room stocked with Drybar products and the left hallway has bathrooms and showers. There is a lot of stuff packed into this place and once people start filing in/out of class it gets a little chaotic. Once my shoes were on and my locker was secure the instructor showed me my bike, how to set it up properly for my height, how to adjust the handle bars and reviewed all of the lingo that would be used. At each station there is a towel and a weighted bar (for the arm work). She showed me how to "clip in" and how to get off the bike properly. Customer service is top notch here, which is great since an improper seat height can severely impede your workout! Once the class started, the lights were dimmed and the music was cranking. We had some class "challenges" where the instructor shows the leader board (if you opted in for that online) and you try to improve your ranking, as well as a competition between Rt side bikers and Lt side bikers. The instructor's energy was great and was just what I needed to make me forget I was on a stationary bike. Before I knew it the class was over and I was left thinking I can't wait to go back! Calorie burn was on par for a 45minute class (per my polar watch), but now that I know what to expect I think I can get an even better workout on the next visit! read more
