If I ever decide to move to Louisville, it will 100% be because I want to be closer to The Inner Warrior. It's all I've ever wanted in a yoga studio: donation-based classes, a welcoming and warm atmosphere, knowledgeable instructors who know that yoga is more than just the poses, a focus on alignment and breath and meditation, and a feeling that you're stepping into a community that you belong to, even if you've never been there. This place is legit. I always feel at home in any yoga studio, even if I've never visited before. The great thing about yoga is that if you practice, then yoga people are your people, and you belong to a tribe. I felt that immediately when I visited The Inner Warrior. There was no awkward feeling of not knowing what to do or where to go. I was exactly where I was supposed to be, doing exactly what I was supposed to do. The class that I popped into was Lincoln Snyder's class, and oh boy. What a joy! I think Lincoln has been placed onto earth from another more peaceful place, in order to show us earthlings that there is another way. His class was slow and methodical, but also challenging, because he focused on proper alignment and being present in the moment, which can be the most difficult thing about yoga. I thoroughly enjoyed his class. I enjoyed his class so much that I personally thanked him afterward, which is not something that I do at all. I wish The Inner Warrior could be my home yoga studio. But even though it's not, I love knowing that this place exists, and that I can come back and visit whenever I want. read more

So where do I start? I have tried so many yoga studios around here but never felt at home as much as I do at the inner warrior. What absolutely blows my mind is this is a pay what you can sliding scale yoga studio with your very hard to come by in today's times. The ambience is perfect for a yoga studio. Warm welcoming tones, wooden floors, smiling staff that look you in the eye and introduce themselves, especially if they know you're new. Nobody tried to hide from me or not look me in the eye. There is different instructors with their own strengths. Daily offerings that make it easier to pick and choose or sit through back to back classes. This studio is a great balance of mindfulness and yoga and the emphasis is never on pushing yourself to hold hoses or do things that you don't want to do. Very freeing. I truly hope the studio lives forever and they always get the support that they need to stay open and provide the level and quality of classes that they do. I love it here. Thanks! read more

This is such a fantastic yoga spot. The teachers are very welcoming, each in their own way- some are very calming, some more willing to let the class reflect their personality, and some very technical. Their merch is great and reasonably priced, there are mats to borrow if you need them, and the sound baths are wonderful. The space itself is beautiful with gorgeous paintings to look at while you stretch and breathe and meditate, and it is on the second floor , so you can look outside at the sky, if you're in the right spot. Im not crazy into yoga, but my friend brought me and it was a great experience. I went on a saturday and its more of a yoga practice than just a class. The breathing, what the instructor guides you to think, the sounds at the end etc. Got a great stretch in, and it was all typical yoga poses, but if anything was too hard there are always alternatives shown. Also donation based! I really enjoyed it, id probably come back once a month to join my friends who go. Arrive early too!!! read more

I've been going to the Inner Warrior for a little over a year now and I absolutely adore this place! First off, the fact this place is donation- based and is essentially free to the community is amazing-- most yoga places can be expensive. And second, every class leaves you feeling relaxed and renewed. Gabriella is so calm and gentle in her yoga practice. I love the Monday and Friday hatha yoga classes for a more easier and intermediate yoga (not too hard or too easy). But the best one is the gentle yoga classes with a sound bath-- I've introduced so many friends to this class and have dosed off at the end feeling so relaxed. For any new yogis or experts, I highly recommend checking this place out and just trying out any of the classes! Fairly new to Louisville, and I have been looking for a non-heated yoga studio with non-vanilla classes (I'm not going to pay for the same old sun As, warriors, triangle, tree, forward ends, twists every time). I have finally found it! This space is beautiful, the teachers are very heartfelt and talented, the fellow students have been varied and friendly, and every class I've been to is different - including the sound baths and meditations. I didnt really see any clothing that was moderately priced and it would be nice to have that option. It's just across from the Silver Dollar and Hilltop Tavern, in a beautifully converted old home that boasts an inviting front porch. Sabine, the owner, and her daughter, Gabriella, are so warm and friendly, and willing to help you find any merchandise that you may be looking for. I really wish I could give this place 10 stars but I guess 5 will have to do! I can't say how mich I love this little shop, it's more than just a boutique, it's more than just yoga classes, it's truly radiating the path to your inner warrior, whatever that path may be. If good vibes could be sold this would be the place. There is such a great yoga community here in Louisville so the love can be shared upon several places however this place is my go to, and I won't buy anywhere else. All their products are earth friendly and there is the exact variety of what is needed. When you walk in, there's just immediate comfort, so welcoming and spacious. Inner Warrior is a beautiful store with an open layout & awesome elephant painting ("Jude"). Inside you'll find yoga attire and mats, wall tapestries, essential oils, jewelry and other accessories. I especially love the selection of sage, juniper and palo santo wood. Because I'm not a yoga student (or small girl that fits in the attire), I had hoped for more decorative or non-yoga items would be available for purchase. When Vines and Canines moved out of this space, I wondered what would grace this location. The Inner Warrior was unexpected, but so welcomed to this place. The clothes are unique, specifically chosen by the owners for their quality. I did not recognize the brands, but the quality speaks for itself. This is the best pair of yoga pants I have purchased and well worth the price. The owners are very kind, provide a lot of good advice and they even offer a donation yoga classes on Sunday and Wednesday nights with various yoga instructors from around town. Not only do they have yoga classes for your own self improvement, they have been making a difference in the community, currently with a donation campaign to Home of the Innocence. Woah. Ok. So my overall review is probably limited at the moment as I have only attended one event at this venue. However, it's such a cool space with open mindedness, I wanted to share. I attended an event focused on Dao elixirs and meditation. I've done some yoga but am no way a "yogi." With inner warrior's donation only classes, maybe I could call myself a yogi sometime soon ;) Some of the ideas discussed at this particular event were far over my head ie spirit travel and dangerous meditation practices. It was still enlightening to learn new techniques of meditation and potentially new herbs to enrich my daily routine. The tall ceilings, edison bulbs, and exposed bricks of this venue create a warm inviting space to open your mind and soul through meditation and yoga. They have mats, pillows and rugs for all to use. The Inner Warrior is like the Switzerland of Louisville's yoga scene (without the Nazi gold and other dark money) -- what i mean is, they don't take sides, and in the yoga community that is a beautiful thing. Local, sustainable, and even organic apparel and accessories! Their classes are always PACKED (if your lucky enough to go to one) and their festival MYPATH is a yoga festival and Terrapin Hill Farm.
