I've had a great experience with Cycle Training UK. It's a not-for-profit workers' co-operative (thumbs up!) that aims to promote cycling and safety. They run cycle training courses to encourage cyclists to be more confident and safer on the roads. I was trained by two different instructors, both very competent and friendly. I'm an experienced cyclist but still got some good tips from the courses. I also did one of their basic maintenance courses and now feel confident sorting out brakes (cables, pads, adjustments), chains (tightening, changing) and gears - all in one day!
If you're a London cyclist, check out if your local council will subsidise training/maintenance courses from Cycle Training (or just pay for it - it's worth it!) and get on it!
