While we were staring in the Mala Strana, it was just over a mile walk to get to Smichov, having a chance to pass by the Memorial to the Victims of Communism on our walk. Interesting setting and location, would have never found the place if it weren't for Janek, The Honest Guide on You Tube, calling the Eggs Benedict, "legendary." We can vouch for that, the soufflé was amazing looking and tasting. Big enough that my girlfriend could not finish the plate. I opted for the traditional English breakfast. It was a full plate of food that was fantastic! The beans were flavorful, the roasted tomatoes juicy and warm. The sausage AB's bacon cooked perfectly. The string is unique, very artsy in my opinion, combining indoor/outdoor seating. Very open and comfortable, appeared to be many locals taking in a morning coffee or breakfast and working. Sat here for quite a while at this sidewalk cafe just enjoying the warm Fall day but enjoying even more the coffee and wonderful food. You order inside and your order is brought out (cafe service is still very wait staff based). Servers are courteous and efficient. All speak English but certainly helps to speak Czech. Very much worth a stop if you are near for a light breakfast or light lunch with a wonderful street side atmosphere.

Usually they have some baked good or goods which are pretty tasty as well. I always wonder how these places manage to have such cheap, high-quality coffee, but sell the same coffee bags for such a high price (you'd barely save money making it at home), but that might just be the strange economics of the business. I was so into this latte that I ordered another and could not stop raving about it to my friends in the US over text right while I was in the cafe. They also offer snacks and sweets. My favourite halva costs something around 20Kc and is always delicious. The service is good, but not too quick, I guess it is because you are not supposed to drink tea in a hurry. In addition, you can find there books for reading and table games, and you can get a pipe. I don't smoke and cannot comment on how good it is, but people with pipes did not look unhappy. You can also buy there some spiritial literature, but I think it mainly is in Czech language.
