I was satisfied with the quality of the work, but the project was not completed. The larger issues were timeliness, follow-through, communication, and billing transparency. Communication became increasingly unresponsive, and eventually the contractor stopped communicating with me directly, routing communication through his wife instead, which led to confusion about prior agreements. By late October 2025, the project remained unfinished. I was later told the business was prioritizing other types of jobs, something that had never been communicated upfront. I ultimately terminated the project in November 2025. A final walkthrough was never conducted before billing. I raised questions about specific invoice items multiple times over several months but did not receive explanations. Concerns that were raised were not addressed, and responsibility for unresolved issues was not acknowledged. In several instances, issues I raised were attributed to my expectations rather than addressed as deviations from the agreed scope or as workmanship concerns. Payment discussions were directed to a third party rather than handled directly with me, which I was not comfortable with, and I was unexpectedly told there was an unpaid balance after being informed a reduced payment would settle the account. I was also later told--after the fact--that the job was being worked on only in the contractor's "free time," which was never disclosed and would have affected my decision to hire them. Taken together, the lack of response to my questions and the use of third-party communication instead of direct contact ultimately damaged the process and made the experience feel dismissive and disrespectful. Additionally, a late-fee policy was introduced retroactively nearly three months after invoicing and had not been disclosed in advance or listed on the invoice. I paid the balance aside from the disputed portion in an effort to move toward closure. Based on my experience, I would not hire this business again. If you choose to work with them, I recommend confirming that scope, timelines, communication expectations, and billing terms are clearly documented in writing from the outset.

He also placed multisized rocks along the walkway. The outcome was an awesome and beautiful landscape that replaced NO steps, just walking in the grass from garage to pole barn. In 2019, we again hired Marty to evaluate our old landscape around the remainder of the house, which involved the north, south and west side around the house. The new landscaping had to tie in with the front of our ranch home, primarily blending in with the blossoming plants and bushes that had been replaced only a few years back. Marty and I visited a nursery and a personal residence, one that he helped design and install which resulted in a beautiful landscape that had abundant color and various bushes. After our visit, we were able to select different plants and a tree that would blend in with the rosetta stone landscape. The result is beautiful landscape, blending various plants and bushes, a weeping tree with new bedlines full of new mulch and compost. Not only did Marty design and plant the new landscape, he had to remove the old overgrown bushes and bring in additional dirt and fertilizer for the new. That was a monstrous task and he approched it without hesitatiion! In summary, we are very happy with Marty Strobel and would hire him again in a heart beat! He is a very hard worker, shows up when he says he will, has great design ideas, uses quality materials, and keeps his customer up-to-date on his progress. He has been great to work with and we will ALWAYS keep him in mind for any future projects we need! Brian & Lisa A. of Dimondale
