All of the previous reviews came to fruition for us as we also experienced the lack of accurate scheduling, an extremely run-down bus, and a poor audio recording of city details that could barely be heard from anywhere on the bus. Sadly, both my husband and I honestly fell asleep on the tour. Save your money and avoid this tour! Victoria was a Port stop during our Alaskan cruise and Expedia gave us $50 in excursion credits for booking through them. There weren't many cheap options and I got excited when I discovered this tour on the list at a decent price. In the end, it wasn't even worth $5. You don't EVEN get what you pay for! After taking the shuttle from the Port into downtown, we had to walk just a few blocks to "Stop One" and waited an extra 40 minutes past the time stated for the first bus to show up. How disappointing it was though that the first bus to show up was a covered bus with no open windows and definitely not a double-decker. What a scam! I asked what seemed to be a Supervisor about this and she said they put this bus in rotation as it was "raining" that morning and that an open-top bus would arrive at 2:15. We decided to wait and grab coffee at the shop next door to kill time. (Quick note: The coffee was excellent and they provided free WiFi and clean restrooms. See my review for more information.) At 2:40, the promised 2:15 open-top bus arrived and the Husband and I boarded. I greeted the driver and asked him how he was doing and he replied, "I will be better in just a few hours." Fortunately, that was the last that I ever heard him speak as unfortunately this tour just pops on a dated recording. Again, avoid this tour and pay the extra amount to do the Greyline tour. I honestly cannot believe this company is still in business and it is an embarrassment to this city.

Big Bus Victoria - Website states their last day of operation is Oct 7th. However they decided to close early on Oct 4th due to bad traffic sales.

We hired Garden City to provide transportation for our wedding in May 2022. Jason was difficult to…read moreget a hold of throughout the planning process - we spent months emailing asking to confirm details and asking to sign a contract (he never did). We were always a bit worried about how things would go. The week of our wedding Jason increased the prices on us and demanded 100% up front payment, even though previously we had agreed to 50% deposit, 50% on delivery of services. This caused a lot of stress and more worry. The day that all of our guests were arriving from all over the world for our destination wedding, we were dealing with Jason's rude emails and demands for more payment before he would show up. On the day of the wedding, Garden City sent only two buses instead of three as agreed. The result was that the bridal party was stranded for an hour, since we weren't picked up by our own bus as arranged but rather a bus that had to first take all the guests to the venue then turn around and come back for us. This caused our wedding to start one hour late. Given that we only had a 6 hour long event, this led to lots of last minute changes, chaos and stress for us, our family and friends who had traveled from around the world to be there. We found out later from our guests that the drivers (Jason drove himself plus one other person) made unprofessional comments and that guests felt unsafe during the journey because they packed the buses so full to make up for the shortage of driver and buses. Our guests were standing up and packed together tightly on a bumpy bus ride for the 30 minutes back from the wedding to the hotel in downtown Victoria. After the wedding we learned more details and realized the full extent of the issues caused by Garden City. We asked for our money back. Jason denied any responsibility for the issues saying the bus that never showed up to transport the bridal party was "stuck in traffic". If they had just told us they couldn't manage a third bus and driver we could have arranged to take taxis and then I could have been on time to my own wedding. Jason actually suggested calling a taxi instead of waiting for him to return and pick us up - unfortunately that suggestion was made when we were already 30 minutes late to the wedding. If you are planning an event and need reliable transportation, run the other way.

The audio tour, however---sheesh! It's at least 3-4 years old ("and here on the waterfront you'll see construction as workers prepare for the Viaduct to come down," and "The Cinerama is bla, bla, bla amazing and has chocolate popcorn") as the Viaduct and Cinerama are both *ancient* history now. Also what's with talking about the history of activities on Capitol Hill and using the phrase "questionable morals"?! And, then we laughed when the narrator first pronounced Ivar, as in Ivar's fish house as "E-var". Anyway, based on the grave reviews you'd think I'd skip this altogether but I'm a local Seattle person and wanted to do the tour just for the experience of having the double decker open air bus ride. Like the other reviews noted, you get no help over the phone (no one answers) and the website isn't very helpful for navigating all the specifics. The office also has no staff on site and there's just a sign on the door which did help us in terms of finding where to pick up the bus at Seattle Center (thank goodness!). The staff person working at the sidewalk kiosk on Broad St was helpful and friendly, there's that. And overall I I enjoyed seeing the sights of my hometown from the high-up veiw from the bus. And...Is it worth $46/person? I'm choosing to disassociate myself from that question and instead, cherish the fun time with my daughter.

We paid $173 total ($60 per adult, $39 for our teen, and the rest for our tween), and they gave us brochures outlining the route and stops, plus one timetable as they were almost out. That's when we realized the bus frequency is every hour, and not every 15 minutes. The last bus was at 5:30 pm. Fortunately, they had a bus scheduled to run at the half hour mark during summers (10, noon and 2), so we would not need to wait for an hour every time we disembarked. The long gap between busses meant we had to restrict the number of places we hopped off - we chose to see the Songhees lookout on the other side of the water, and take a lunch stop in Oak Bay Village. Of the places we'd originally planned to see, we ended up skipping Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and Beacon Hill Park (with its 150+ feet-tall totem pole). Many of the other places on the "itinerary" were either closed or obvious tourist traps. The busses are double-deckers and are fairly comfortable - some have open roofs, others don't. They tend to run about 5-10 minutes behind schedule. Service level was mixed. We got one nice tour guide, and a rude one who chastised us for all the things we MAY do on the journey (like throw trash everywhere instead of in the bin!), even before the bus had departed the starting point. Verdict - overpriced and not worth wasting a day of precious vacation time on. Wish we had taken a cab or water taxi instead and visited just the places we wanted to see.
