We were both dealt with professionally. The diagnosis was in line with our symptoms and appropriate medicine and services were given. I was referred for an x-ray. They Clinic office was timely in notifying me about the results of the x-ray. They have called several times to check on my problem. We both have very competent health care professionals, however, it is not always easy to schedule an appointment. I was a walk in patient. There were two people ahead of me. I signed in, filled out paperwork and was told it wouldn't be long. Then two other people walked in. They were all taken back while I was left sitting. I asked how much longer and was told the other two had appointments but it wouldn't be much longer, maybe 20 minutes. It was way longer than 20 minutes. I finally got back into a room. Vitals were taken and then I had to wait for a "nurse" to come in to take my information. For someone in that position to not know what a very well known prescription was so she could type it into my information surprised me. Then for her to not know what congestive heart failure was when we were going over family history, really worried me (about what she does and doesn't know). Again, I waited a long time but the practitioner came in. She was nice enough, but still didn't seem to understand my problem and was very little help. They ran two tests, both of which I had to do the test itself, MYSELF, handing it to them when I was done. They told me it would take two days to get back the results (of which I paid extra to get the lab work sent off). This was on a Thursday. This is now Monday night, I have called repeatedly today-Monday-and they still won't call me back with my results. I did talk to someone there, but they had to get someone up front to call me with the results, to which no one ever called. They also told me when I was there that they would call in a prescription for an antibiotic and for me to pick it up if symptoms started getting worse. I called today (Monday) and nothing was ever called in. They fell down on the job all of the way around. Basically, if it was something very serious, I could be in real trouble by now. This was single handedly the WORST medical experience I have ever had.

When I arrived for the appointment, the wait was not long at all. I love Dr. Black, and the staff was very friendly and professional. Dr. Black made me feel very comfortable. Do yourself a favor and just call AU health's central appointment line. The staff can't make appointments without new patient forms filled out. And they can't expedite new patient appointments based on patient needs. There is no webform and no way to submit the form via a modern interface like email. Instead you have to go though their disastrously implemented new patient portal (separate from their patient portal that is accessible though the website) doesn't seem to transmit jpegs or pdfs despite showing them in the sent folder. The person on the phone can't tell you if your forms went through on their garbage messaging system. Even if they do go through, the doctor has to 'accept' you. There is no time expectation for this step, it takes as long as it takes, could be weeks. Is this an exclusive club or a primary care doctor? Each time I call they tell me my expected wait for my new patient appointment is longer, from 2 weeks the first time I called and attempted to submit the form to 4-6 weeks today. There were too many red flags, I just couldn't believe this complete lack of professionalism and poor service. Thank goodness I called the AU central line today, they gave me an new patient primarily care appointment two days from now. If I had started with AU I could have avoided hours of stress and headaches and some urgent care and ER visits. Don't be fooled!

In 2021 they had a person outside taking your temperature and making sure you had a disposable mask on. As of 1/24/22, no one is outside doing temperature checks but they are requiring everyone to have a mask on. They offer vaccine and boosters right inside the building. I was super impressed with their MRI office and their pain management office; extremely professional and quick. My experience at the ER was very good but I wasn't able to get in and out as quickly as I wanted and it was CRAZY cold in the waiting area (many of us were given blankets) and I don't normally mind the cold but this was beyond what I've experienced before. It took me 2 hours to get seen, get prescriptions and get out. That said, I was seen by Dr Mah after only 65 mins which was pretty good for an ER figuring I only had painful sinusitis so I was low in terms of priority. Dr Ma was very nice and told me to wait in the waiting area for my prescription paperwork. The thing that got me was I had to go up to the desk 40 mins after leaving Dr Ma's office to get action on my prescription paperwork. I'm not sure much longer I would've been there if I hadn't done that. Luckily I did so I was out in 2 hours. I had to go back in for a meningitis concern on a Saturday which either meant going back to the VA's ER or a MedStop and I chose the MedStop which was a good choice as I was in/out in 20 mins with prescriptions in hand. I still give the VA hospital (both downtown and uptown locations) a FIVE STAR rating b/c my overall experience has been phenomenal in the past 2.5 years.
