I've heard such horror stories about living probates during times of illness, so thought it…read moreprobably wise to get my affairs in order. My decision to make an appointment with the Law offices of Kathleen Flammia was due to 3 things - firstly, our family accountant recommended her. Then when I asked around generally among co-workers, friends and other acquaintances, Kathleen's name kept coming up as someone who was very highly regarded and respected within local legal circles. Finally all the other 5-star yelp reviews also were a factor and now having been a client of this firm, can totally understand and agree with that rating! Kathleen demonstrates a keen understanding of a persons' unique situation and she was very good about taking me thru the range of their services and then also pointing out something's that were not a factor I needed to be concerned about. At one point, Stacy, another attorney in the office also actually called up the Revenue Department as they wanted to double check certain facts related to my options. All the staff I encountered were super courteous, very diligent and uber responsive. I had a work emergency come up unexpectedly and couldn't make a meeting and it wasn't any issues or dramas with making a change and in fact the office staff were great about working with my schedule. Also another note that the language used in the document this firm prepares for you is super comprehensive and complete and also extremely user friendly and plain-spoken. Legal jargon is really kept to a minimum but the wording uses provides you the full protection of the law. Overall, really very impressive with the staff and their expertise and very happy to have used their services. Absolutely recommend!! Yelp 144/ 2018

We stopped in to execute all of the documents; and, they had a "drive by" notary that provided witnesses and notary services that were required. The attorney was very thorough and made sure all of the documents were in order so we could present them to our financial planner. We'll use Flammia Law again when we need them!

They promise to make you Medicaid eligible, you know how?…read moreThey sell off all your assets and put them in a third party firm that makes money off of you!!! If you are considering hiring Family First to manage your own or a family member's Medicaid…read moreapplication, I urge you to carefully consider my experience and the financial harm their mistakes have caused my family. In October 2023, I hired Family First for assistance with my elderly mother's Medicaid application and for advice on managing her limited assets. Unfortunately, their mismanagement caused financial strain, emotional stress, and jeopardized her well-being. Below are just a few examples of their negligence. 1. Failure to Follow Up and Understand Family Objectives - After an initial call with Attorney GH and Case Manager SG, several asset management strategies were suggested, but follow-ups were neglected. I sent dozens of emails asking for updates, guidance, or clarification, but received little to no proactive communication. I had to repeat basic details about her case, including our family's objectives and my living out of state, during every interaction. Unrealistic deadlines for document submission left little time to comply. Their lack of organization and communication caused unnecessary delays in securing care for my mother and increased emotional stress to my family. 2. Negligence in Medicaid Application Process - The firm submitted my mother's Medicaid application without reviewing her financial documents. Medicaid denied the application in February 2024. This left our family responsible for $20,000 in unreimbursed nursing home bills. 3. Unauthorized and Harmful Resolution Plan - After Medicaid was denied, SG was replacdd with MR. In her introduction email, she mistakenly called my mother "Mrs. Hamilton," which isn't her name. She later apologized using the last name "Case" - also not my mother's name. Around this time, the nursing home started calling weekly for payment of the overdue amount. I told MR that I believed the firm was at fault and responsible for the debt. MR met with GH to create a "plan" that went against our family's goals. Without my knowledge, they arranged with the nursing home for my mother to stay there indefinitely, using her Social Security benefits to pay off the $20,000 debt. I was shocked and upset to learn about this despicable plan. This plan ignored my clear directives to move her OUT of that facility. I had frequently expressed my concerns about the nursing home to them - it was a horrible environment and I did not agree to have my mother live out her life there. 4. Errors in critical documents, like my mother's durable power of attorney. 5. Risking Exposure of Sensitive Client Data - I've received emails from the firm's attorneys that were clearly generated by ChatGPT or similar AI tools. This raises serious concerns about the privacy of my mother's sensitive financial and personal information. I was never informed or asked for permission. 6. The firm provided incorrect advice about a financial investment, involving my mother's life savings. These funds were meant to cover her assisted living and medical expenses for the long term. I told the attorneys my mother might relocate out of state, and they assured me the investment would be transferable. This was false. I said we'd need to withdraw funds as my mother's expenses grew with age or a potential move. They recommended a flat fee option for penalty fees associated with early termination, which I understood to be 8%. This was also false. Less than three months after the investment, I was shocked to learn the termination fee would be over $37,000. As a result, my mother's life savings are now insufficient to sustain her in an assisted living facility. Instead of lasting a decade as planned, her funds will run out in less than three years. The managing partner who "advised" me on this deal received a copy of the contract prior to my signing. Had he taken the time to review it, he might have caught the errors in the guidance he provided. This mistake has severely jeopardized my mother's financial stability and her ability to access care in the future. Family First Elder Law's mishandling of my mother's case has caused serious financial and emotional harm to my family. My 89-year-old mother has suffered directly, facing extended time in a facility that didn't meet her needs, financial penalties that drained her savings, and unnecessary stress. The firm repeatedly failed to show the diligence, professionalism, and care needed in such a critical situation. Hire them at your own risk.

WHAT AN AMAZING ATTORNEY!!!! My experience with the Veliz Law Group from the beginning until now,…read morehas been nothing but professional, courteous, and accommodating. I have a case for relocation, which is very very VERY hard to win in Florida. However, during my consultation, Attorney Veliz explained the law, his approach, and how to proceed. He did not promise any outcomes, but he kept to his word on what he said he would do, HE ACTUALLY DID!!! He kept his timelines, followed up when he said he would, and was always available to answer any questions during the process when needed. Additionally, his staff is so professional, and accommodating, I did not believe that law firms like this existed. Now the actual day in the court room came, and I WON THE CASE FOR RELOCATION!!! David is a BULL DOG in the court. He is strong is his approach when he needs to object, and has the facts to back up his arguments, I was blown away. David's law group was also accommodating when it came to payment, he never tried to nickel and dime me, and was willing to work out a payment plan that would work for both of us. With all due respect an honesty, I have been to many lawyers, and had an awful experience, like most people say they have. However, Veliz Law Group will give you the courteous, professional, and knowledgeable experience that you deserve, and paid for!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

A very weak attorney and comes across as being angry and impatient all the time, rarely makes eye…read morecontact with you while having a conversation, in fact looks away. Terrible at depositions and court hearings, when asking a question of the witness he does not wait for the complete response he instead talks over the response and then starts a verbal banter with the witness causing confusion to what the question and answer was. Also witness will answer with a nod or shake of the head which the court reporter cannot record as an answer he then doesn't tell the witness to verbally respond. When the transcript is read it is very difficult to follow the testimony and would be problematic to use for the purpose of impeachment. He gives the impression to be mentally preoccupied with other things while doing the instant case. Charges a lot of time for research on basic legal issues and invoices are excessive for the work he does. Poor performance and preparedness with case resulting in negative and very expensive outcome for this former client. Do not recommend.
