She seemed nice but after I left the salon I was left wondering why she did such a poor job on me, I've seen photos of her work and of the wonderful colors she has done as being the color specialist of the shop. Since December, I've still been a bit disturbed as to why she let me leave the salon with hair that I disliked more than when I came (I actually wish I had my normal hair back, as it was much better before I sat down with her) I had red hair dye all over my forehead.. my ears.. the back of my neck.. my cheeks. I sat in my car and cried like a little girl because why would you do that.... I wished I didn't go in there and just kept my hair how it was. The color itself was not at all what I had wanted, after showing photos, etc. I understand not getting the EXACT shade of course, but this was just incomparable.. after asking how I'd like it styled and saying I would like just a regular blowout, I was disappointed with how she managed to do it.. I've seen blowouts on her portfolio.. I even do my own blowouts.. she could've handed me the styling tools and I could have done it myself if she didn't plan on doing a good job on me.. she left my hair super frizzy, and nowhere near a blowout at all. It was the day before Christmas, even after getting such disappointing service, I still tipped a lot. The only reason I chose this shop is because Tara's family is neighbors with my mother and I wanted to go to a familiar business. I wish the experience could've been better. In the photo, it is my hair just the day before seeing Kaitlyn, and then immediately after. It looks horrible. I only post this review now, because I think about this every day and wonder why she did such a poor job on me ? I am not a resident of the area anymore i live in NC for military and easily could've just waited to go back home after the holidays to get my hair how I wanted it. Her portfolio all had great styles.. that's the only reason I booked with her. But not on me unfortunately.

She was really nice even though I chatted her ear off (I talk a lot when I'm nervous) and the salon overall was really nice too. It was a nice, calm experienced compared to larger salons with 10 hair dryers going at once or places with kids running around everywhere. The prices were also very reasonable. I'll definitely go back.

I had also lost Sherry, who often styled my hair at the same salon. I tried cuts a number of places where I could just stop in w/o an appt. I can't explain how disappointed I was when those cuts took less than 10 minutes over and over again as they trimmed an inch of hair off the bottom and called it done. Long straight hair can still be styled to take advantage of many details and this was exactly what I found again when I found Sherry yesterday at her own salon! She brought out swing and cut for hair and facial characteristics and I walked out feeling like 1 million bucks for not a lot more than I had been paying for drab and lifeless cuts. As I had a wedding coming up (and was new to the area), so I was a little lost on things like where to get my dress tailored, what Salons could handle large bridal parties and such. Laura was willing to take the time to give me suggestions from her years of experience in Ithaca!! Needless to say all of her recommendations were right on. But that's just the extras - I have now had both my hair cut and waxing done with Laura (2-3 times each). The hair cuts were really good, and she's great at taking practicality into the mix when cutting your hair. For example, I'm someone who likes to blow dry my hair only on occasion and then only do minimal styling. She took all of that into account and gave me a great haircut that could be worn naturally or with my novice level of styling (instead of giving me a really cute style that I could never hope to recreate on my own as I've often gotten before). As for waxing, she manages to keep a constant stream of friendly chatting going through the whole process so that you don't have time to think about the potential pain coming your way. They put hand sanitizer on my face to try and hurriedly remove a mistake, reused brushes with no sign of sanitation - all for the makeup to look TERRIBLE and have to be redone by most of us at the venue. For $80. I should have listened to my gut and walked away when they were doing the absolute rush job on my face. Absolutely obscene behavior from the makeup "artist" they had onsite.
