Cutting Edge Design and Build did a full backyard remodel for us in May -- removed old pavers, poured new cement, laid new sod, and added a couple of raised beds. Professional from start to finish: competitive rates, fully insured, gave us a clear timeline, and stuck to it with zero surprise charges. Miguel was great to work with -- communicative and walked us through the process at every step. What really stood out was the follow-through after the job was done. Some of the new sod struggled to take root during a heat wave, and about two weeks after the project wrapped, I reached out to Miguel. He came back out personally with a colleague, walked the yard with me, and gave hands-on advice to get it back on track -- the grass fully recovered and looks great now. That's the kind of service that's hard to find -- most contractors consider the job over once the invoice is paid. Highly recommend. read more

I had a great experience working with Miguel and his team. They brought my design to life. During this entire time, I had no pressure to point out things which I had doubts with. Communication: I always highly value a contractor who has the patience to explain things to their clients and keep everyone updated to ensure both sides are on the same page. There will always be things that we as homeowners overlook or forget during an ongoing project, so maintaining good communication is key to avoiding setbacks. Quality: They did a great job installing the pavers and turf, as well as handling various miscellaneous requests along the way. Miguel was patient in listening to my concerns and was able to offer proper solutions Price: I got quotes from at least four other contractors, and Miguel offered the most reasonable price by far. read more

After receiving three bids to remove our old cement patio with pavers, we thought Miguel was the best and we were right. He is very detailed and professional. From the first day, with an early start, his team removed our old concrete patio and very carefully installed pavers including a curved pattern to highlight the landscape. Miguel was on site every day carefully monitoring his team and providing input on the design. Miguel is a great listener, attentive, and punctual. He also collaborated with our pergola team to ensure the pavers were aligned with the footings. The pavers around the footings were perfectly installed. We were so happy with the patio we added the side yard which Miguel did very quickly. We stayed in budget and the job was quickly done. Our neighbors were very supportive of the trailers in our front parking strip as the job was done in a few days. We highly recommend Cutting Edge Design and Build. Bob and Judy, San Jose read more

I had an amazing experience with Cutting Edge Building and Design! They built a beautiful fence for us and even redesigned it to better fit our yard layout and needs, which made a huge difference. Miguel came out the same day I called to check out the project, provided a quote quickly, and had the job completed just 3 days later--super impressive turnaround! His team was professional, efficient, and hardworking. They removed old planters, hauled away all the debris, and built a stunning fence in no time. The quality of the work really shows. I couldn't be happier with the results and will definitely be using them again for future backyard upgrades. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I are currently having our backyard pavers installed by Miguel, owner of Cutting Edge Design. He is so professional and it is so disappointing to have Jenny give him a 1 star rating. It is not accurate. Perhaps Jenny could have asked about his trailer (plates stolen) before using YELP. I asked my neighbors if it was okay for his equipment to stay parked in front of the house (public road) and they said sure. Paving a driveway, a backyard, etc. is a big job. So sad to see someone like Jenny, full of hateful speech, and so unaware of the job he is doing. Apparently Jenny, you are not a nice neighbor. So blessed I have the kindest neighbors!! read more

Highly recommend Miguel from Cutting Edge Landscape for any and all landscaping projects! I needed an old shed removed and pavers and plants put in. I got six different quotes but ultimately decided to go with Miguel because I liked how easy it was to communicate with him -- he's super friendly and personable and so fast at answering texts. He was also willing to work with our budget and saved us significant costs on material and plants. This was our first landscaping project and he guided us through every step. I was shocked with how quickly he and his crew worked, we started on a Tuesday and the project was done the next week, there was even a huge storm in between. We were wow-ed by how beautiful our backyard turned out. Absolutely flawless work and such clean paving cuts around difficult curves and plants. This project turned out better than I could've ever envision. Miguel listened to everything we wanted and just executed. I really appreciate how efficient and transparent he was about everything, and his crew did a really thorough job cleaning up after the job was done. We are looking forward to hiring him again for our next turf project and are already recommending him to all our neighbors! read more

I wanted to replace an uneven flagstone path with a safer cement pathway through my front garden. Miguel's bid suggested he could provide good value for the price. With his partner, they came up with a few ideas that would make the pathway even more attractive for the same price. They thought of everything, including ensuring there would be no puddling after rainstorms. I am thrilled with the results! Miguel has worked with me on a few other projects that have involved modifying garden landscaping contours, removing and installing plants. He is impressively conscientious and listens carefully. If he has misunderstood something I have requested, he always makes it right. Because I have an unusual garden situation (all California native plants that often have "special needs"), any landscaping professional would need to ask questions and he does, always making sure that he's understood correctly. I already have another project lined up for him to complete. Most importantly, Miguel is a *good person*. Beyond his professionalism and respect, he is kind and thoughtful. His partner for projects such as cement work is also a very nice person (and highly knowledgeable). read more

By far the worst communication ever, can't even reply to emails in a timely manner.

Miguel and team did a fantastic job of transforming our plain concrete and mud backyard in to a lovely patio and artificial turf area we can enjoy. We did not have a complete plan for the yard when we first contacted Miguel, however he gave us lots of great options and we were able to go and choose pavers etc from his source. Even though they had to move a huge amount of soil to carve out the patio area, the team worked hard, the whole job took just a couple of weeks and was very reasonably priced. read more

We recently had our entire front yard and driveway redone by Miguel and his crew, and they did an excellent job! They demolished the old concrete (cracked) driveway and replaced with pavers. They took out some major bushes and trees, built retaining walls and fences. And now we have a front yard that is much lower maintenance and way more user-friendly. Miguel was easy to work with from getting the very reasonable estimates to picking out pavers and plants and was responsive to our questions and requests. His crew was friendly and hard-working as they worked straight through to complete the project in less than 3 weeks. I will definitely hire them again for future projects. http://cuttingedgelandscapeca.com/ read more

Miguel and his team did an amazing job of replacing our old cracked driveway and backyard concrete with beautiful new pavers. Miguel offered good suggestions about where to place borders, etc. He showed us examples of previous work and had us look for ideas at a local paver company. His team was fast and efficient, finishing the job in two weeks. They took pride in their work. The job was priced fairly. I got several quotes and his was right in the middle. Do not hesitate to hire this company. read more

These guys are great in many ways...they are quick to respond, provide a free estimate and get to work. Their price was very competitive, and their finished work product looks good. I have found, however, that they are unwilling to come back and fix a few blemishes, like irrigation piping that sticking out in many places, and uneven mulching. They have pretty much said that once the job is done, they wont return. So, either hold back some of the payment for a few weeks, or expect that you might have to have someone else finish the stuff they arent willing to do, like smoothing out mulch on a hillside or reburying irrigation line. Other than their unwillingness to return, the work looks great and the price was right!! read more

I would like to thank Miguel & his team! Amazing & professional. I'm so glad I hired them for my landscape project. Very knowledgeable & up front, did not over promise, & delivered as promised, and everything went beyond my expectations . Miguel and his team did a wonderful job on trimming back and laying bark. The yard looks great. They also ran 2 additional irrigation lines as requested. My problem is that when I asked him about burying the irrigation lines, instead of telling me that was not included in the quote, he ignored my question until it became an issue. After I paid him, my bad. Otherwise the job was done in a professional manner and they picked up all rubbish. They also cleaned up my rose bushes, which were not included in the original quote. read more

We wanted to build a low fence to the front of our house for a little more privacy and replace a section of wood chips with gravel. Miguel answered my call right away, swung by to take measurements, and patiently provided a couple of very reasonable quotes as I decided between concrete or gravel. And a week later, he and his team completed the project in half a day! It looks better than we could have ever imagined - we love it! Thank you Miguel and team for making this so quick and easy. We will definitely work with Cutting Edge Landscape again in the future for all of our landscape projects. Highly recommend! read more

Miguel's work ethic is phenomenal , quality work. He was very kind and professional. I would refer him to everyone I know !! Thanks again!!

Miguel and his crew put in both a front and backyard lawn. They put in a sprinkler system and did other masonry work. I could not be happier. He was quick and fair with his quote. The work was done quickly, his crew is professional and we have no complaints. All of them were friendly and worked really hard. We had questions about certain areas of our yard (and it was a mess to be honest) and he gave us suggestions that would work with our animals. Trust him and his guys, they won't disappoint. He is available after the job to help you and answer any questions. read more

Miguel was very friendly and knew what he was doing! We will for sure keep him as our gardener.

Miguel and his team were the best! Our backyard was completely overgrown. They came in, cleared everything out, moved pavers and installed artificial grass which looks amazing! It's like a completely new space for us and made room for our new puppy to run around. They also ripped out our front landscaping which was looking ragged and replanted exactly how I envisioned it. Also trimmed back our trees. The whole job was seamless and I couldn't be happier with the work done. I highly recommend them for any of your jobs! read more
