I turned to Yelp to look for a barber to go to and that is when I remember a friend of mine telling me about this little place on Penn Ave. After a little sleuthing I finally found it (thank you Google Maps). Pulled up the Yelp page and saw that it was my luck that they were closed on that particular day. I took a chance and sent a message through their Facebook page and got myself an appointment. (For future reference, call the shop to make an appointment as I was told that they aren't always able to reply to messages via Facebook) Showed up a little before my appointment and was greeted as soon as I stepped foot in the door. Greeting me by my first name made me feel really welcomed and comfortable as soon as I arrived. What also put me at ease was the decor. It has this deconstructed feeling. I really liked the one wall and how they revealed what was beneath it and left it as it was. Patches of old exposed that made it look new-ish. Now, the part I hate with any haircut is having to make conversation. I always dread this because I am not good at chit-chat. However, Scooter made it easy to talk. I had them put his name down and in the meanwhile figured I'd check out Sports Clips to see if they had a wait. I thought an over 2 1/2 hour wait time for a haircut was crazy, especially because Knockouts only does Mens and boys haircuts, not chemicals that would require more time. Sports Clips was also busy but said the wait time was only 30 mins for a walk-in. Much better! So I decided to go ahead and cancel our name on the Knockout waitlist online... when I went on the site it said there was only a 15 minute wait if I wanted to add my name to the list...when they told us over 2 1/2 hours. Very upsetting, all I can think is they didn't want to do a child's haircut. Thankfully Sports Clips stylists are more professional and took care of my son. Also our quoted 30 minute wait only ended up being 15 mins at Sports Clips. Save yourself the hassle and don't go to this Knockouts head over to Sports Clips instead!
