Again, Peter answered and confirmed we could get it done the next day. They replaced the rear bulb and just charged for the part - no gigantic labor charge. They informed us a certain part in these kinds of cars continues to trigger a dashboard warning light even when all rear bulbs are OK. Other places would try to talk you into fixing that part unnecessarily, but not this place. They just want to take good care of you and keep you as a happy, returning customer.

Shouldn't cost much more than 500$ (again, so I'm told). So I checked this place out. The guy who runs the place, Danny, told me he'd have it done by the next day and he certainly did. Turns out my engine had all sorts of other problems that he fixed while he was under the hood. My gut reaction was "Here we go." but things were not what they seemed. The overall price after labor and all of the other fixes he provided was, as I was told, not much higher than 500$. I've since heard even more good things about this place and I can say I'm a believer. This will be my go-to place from now on.

Extremely knowledgeable Gary wanted to drive and see for himself. We listened for the noise that concerned me. He ruled out one possible cause and had an idea what it was. He said he'd look it over and call me in 45 min. Which he did. He prioritized everything I needed and made recommendations. It was 1PM. He said he would get it done by the end of the day. I checked in about 4 to try and get an idea when they would be done. Gary left me a message before 5 PM saying my car is ready. The noise is gone, the ride is smooth and I saved a grand.

Turned into a nightmare, not just because his guys have zero idea how to prep fiberglass, but the paintwork they did was just as bad. They did zero prep work on the hood. Zero. They didn't bake the hood before they primed it so it ended up having print through issues. I paid extra to have them block sand the hood straight (all fiberglass hoods need that) and all they did was sand the gel coat and shoot it. They painted the hood on the car and (it's a black car, not really necessary) and they didn't tell me this at the time but they painted both entire fenders for NO reason, and did a horrible job. Not just the tops of the fenders to blend, but all the way down. There are pinholes everywhere on the paint on my fenders now, which I now can see. Instead of removing the badge from the fender before painting it, they masked it and now there's a halo around the badge, and more pinholes. Careless, dirty work. There was overspray on the doors as well. They didn't even paint the underside of the hood at first. Simply amazing. When I made them do that they didn't even remove the weatherseal, they just masked it. Probably took longer to mask it than it would have taken to pull 5 clips. I protested as I saw his guys using the too-large socket on their power wrench to adjust my fender bolts, and rounded off the corners on the bolts as a result. Power tools on a fender bolt? And not even the right size? Lord. This is an in-and-out insurance cash grab Brooklyn body shop at its worst. An awful experience, a total waste of money. Car is in worse shape now than before I went there. If I hadn't paid cash I would have charged back my credit card. I ended up having to buy a new hood and getting it properly painted elsewhere.

The symptoms were so obvious that my wife even diagnosed it after quickly looking that it was a bad alternator. After these shade tree mechanics did their inspection, the said that it was 100% a transmission failure. And that to replace would be $4500 in parts and labor. Of course we had our suspicions, so we had it towed from there to our local mechanic in Rockland County. Turns out it was just the alternator after all. $550 for a new alternator with labor included. These guys are either the most stupid, incompetent mechanics on earth or shameless crooks who take advantage of people they think don't know any better. So either way I hope I can pay them back with a warning to you all. To mechanics have a obligation to be fair, honest and ethical. I truly hope I hurt their business. What the did was despicable. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! My daughter is a single mom with a disability. That 4500 vs 550 repair bill was the difference between her giving the car back to the bank vs being able to afford to keep it.
