From my first contact with Ricky Diaz I told him that I was going to be demanding with detail, colour, perfection of specifics, and constant visual updates as different aspects of the plane being built for me was progressing. He assured me that he and the artist would work very closely with me every step of the way. I engaged in several email exchanges explaining that I had accidentally broken the cherished desk model of the RCAF CP-140 Lockheed Aurora that my husband crewed on as the flight engineer in the 1980's. The models had been out of circulation for 10 years. I explained that as the FE my husband new the plane inside and out so it MUST be perfect. Again, Ricky assured me, that unless and until I was completely satisfied I would not be paying. I put down a deposit and the process began. All communication was find by email but I have no complaints. At most I waited two days and that was rare. I often recieved emails late at night and sometimes on Sundays I was regularly sent pictures of the progress and when I said that something needed to be changed it was. On more than one occasion I was wrong about the change and the artist changed it back to the way it was originally. The end product FAR EXCEEDED my expectations and is a far superior model to the one I broke .My husband is THRILLED with it Yes it took longer than expected but that's because it was a collaboration. At all times, despite my frustration at times with changes I 'thought' needed to be made Ricky was always courteous and responded to my requests immediately even when I was wrong. He finally and very politely suggested that the model I was looking at was very basic and that his artist was adding the correct military detail my husband would appreciate. I'm so grateful he did that. I cannot say enough good things about Ricky or about the CP-140 that now has a place of pride in our home. read more

We are Custom Air Models, LLC. A custom model aircraft company registered under The Commonwealth of Va. We operate our own factories and have been in the business since 1997. Through these 24 years we have no record of fraud nor felony and always made sure we deliver all orders with total satisfaction of our clients in mind. There have been times when workload is just too high that we get delayed in completing orders but we never fail to finish an order. Through these 24 years there is only one thing which drives and that is to satisfy our clients. If our client receives a model falling short of his expectations we offer to replace it without getting back the first delivered model. We will not stop until the client is totally satisfied. If there are issues with the model already delivered he can bring to a professional modeler and we will be more than happy to reimburse for enhancement or repair costs. Again, only so that our customers are happy and satisfied. We will always request for instruction and communications done via email so that everything pertaining to constructing your model is recorded and it will be easier for us to go back and review your instructions. We also insist that all payments be done via credit card. This way the client has total control of his funds. You may file for chargeback at anytime and we can have little say against it. The client controls his funds from start to finish. This is also why we do not demand a full payment but a deposit to start construction. All I can say is that Ricky and his team are such a gem. After having an unfavorable experience with other shops in the area, Custom air models was a breath of fresh air. He was very responsive and when I sent a Yelp message asking for an estimate he arrange for a video con the very next day. When he called he diagnosed the details like brand of paint , wood, size, things i never from others and gave me an estimate within a couple of hours and it was significantly lower price than my original estimate which made me very comfortable going with him and his team. The questions I asked he was very knowledgeable about and he even asked what weight and mass of model airplane I thought I would want and gave me his opinion of what was going to be the best for me that would not cause any future issues. After agreeing to the estimate, we made arrangements for installment the very next week. He sent me pictures of the progress if any correction or modifications and made sure there weren't any issues before shipping. I ordered the medium sized model of a Barron for my stepdad. When he opened it on Christmas he said it was the greatest gift he's ever gotten. Model was incredibly detailed down to the antennas, lights, logos on the propellers. Ordered at the beginning of October and it arrived just before Christmas. Ricky promised it would be there before Christmas and was very responsive through the whole process. Sent pictures for final approval prior to the full payment. read more
