When I called to accept the new quote, she informed me of a change in payment terms, requesting full payment 5-6 weeks prior to installation, not the 80% that was originally discussed. I asked for the paperwork to sign whilst I discussed this new change with my husband. Within hours I received an email saying she could not provide any of the services we required. Thank goodness we never gave her any money - we may never have seen any shutters installed.

When I finally received the contract and the invoice, the discount that was promised in writing was not shown on the invoice. When I questioned that, I received an email that Nicole had decided not to do business with me. I am so glad that she made that decision! If you decide to do business with Budget Blinds, I warn you to read the fine print of the contract or better yet have an attorney read it and give you advise regarding the responsible of Budget Blinds when something goes wrong.

In no place in the agreement is customer satisfaction mentioned. After requiring a 75% deposit, the sale is final and there is "no refund for any reason". If there are significant delays, if there are quality issues, if the install goes bad, this agreement states that Budget Blinds does not have to give you a refund. When I asked for some guarantees if the delays became significant (like Cov-19), I was accused of questioning their integrity... it went downhill from there . Along the way, there were key communication hick-ups around the cost of the fabric selection, being billed for the full cost of the job-not just the deposit, and finally the order agreement that protects only the folks from Budget Blinds. If things go well, great. If things go wrong, and you've signed their standard order agreement... you are "hosed".

We gave our business to Mike and Michelle…read moreDavis who is North Houston franchisee based on trust on quality of Budget Blinds and wanted to support small business. The plantation shutter installation was delayed for few weeks because of manufacturing delay and we couldn't get a Friday installation for two weeks. I still insisted to Michelle that the timeline of installation delay was fine as long ensure they build quality shutters and the shutters are inspected throughly for quality control so we don't waste time on manufacturing defect issues. We are not satisfied with the Budget Blinds / Ameritex (shutter manufacturer) customer service and quality of the plantation shutters which were installed in end of May 2022. Mike and Michelle didn't show-up to inspect the issue when we called for defect support as there were so many issues. Hence, we had taken time to inspect every shutter in all the rooms because we were concern about the product quality. We could see many of the shutter louvers are not closing tight (there are big gaps in many of them), several are not closing and opening uniformly, and some louvers appear to have unusual very loose movements where they are attached to the hidden control lever. The louvers which were installed broken/cracked, dent, bubbles and terrible paint work on louvers. The hidden tilt mechanism and the build of the shutters were very poor design from the day one. We do not have any faith and confidence with the Budget Blinds customer service and Ameritex shutter product quality after our bad experience. We have pointed out several defective louvers on the day of installation to Mike Davis in person. However, Mike kept on giving unacceptable excuses instead of addressing them and committing to fix it. Product Excellence and Quality Control were not met. There are so many defects identified in last few weeks by us and we are not satisfied with the shutters.
