She was so flexible with her dates and she already had recommendations for locations on her website. Within 48 hours, we had picked a date and a location. There are not enough words to describe how grateful my family is to have had the opportunity to have Karen take our family's photos! My children are 8 and 10, so the notion of getting all dressed up for a family portrait wasn't their idea of a great afternoon... Enter Karen. With her gorgeous personality and caring manner, she guided us to this wonderful, rustic area, made jokes with my kids, had them doing super fun kid stuff, and had all of us cracking up, which made for a ton of relaxed, and naturally happy photos. We love Karen from Custom Moments. She did such a great job for our daughter's newborn photos (May 2017) and was able to engage our 2.5 year old son as well (he's tough to get to smile for photos, but he LOVED her and all the cool props/trucks/etc she had in her backyard). Karen is great!! I got a newborn package from her when my baby was born. The session did not go as smoothly as we hoped as my baby was too alert and did not want to sleep. Having said that, Karen still got some really great shots of her and us together. She felt bad for us as she could not take as many shots and offered to have another session when she is 6 months old without extra charge. We just completed our second session with Karen and the photos are awesome. My parents were visiting and also took part at the photo shoot. My baby just loves her and kept smiling for the camera!! There are certain times in life when you meet people and right away there's a chemistry there's a connection- when we first met Karen We felt as if I had known her forever. This is our second time using Karen for baby photos I originally used her for newborn photo session and just again recently for my babies six-month photo session. She is awesome and does awesome work I wanted to write this review six months ago but being a new mom and juggling a new baby and a job time gets away from you and the little things that you really need to do and on the back burner. But not Karen Karen belongs front and center because she is not only great at what she does she loves her job! Here are two reviews and one;) Our first session with Karen- I had just had a baby and of course like any other new mom was so excited to get newborn photos! of course being a new mom I felt a little overwhelmed the first couple of weeks ;) and as far as scheduling anything forget it I couldn't stay on schedule for the life of me - I contacted Karen and she made the whole process so easy. She explained us that the best pictures would be around 10 days old so the baby would still be sleeping and could easily be manipulated for all the poses- I was a little nervous considering this would've been the first time she left the house ever know I had my mom and my sisters come along for the adventure!!!! When we arrived at the studio Karen made us feel so comfortable she has a cutest studio with the best little outfits I had ever seen! If you are anything like me and browse etsy for those cute little headbands and a cute baby outfits just stop now! Karen has done all the work for you and has the best headbands and the best baby props I have seen!!!! We dressed up our little munchkin in various different costumes - she handled the baby was such ease that she made us feel extremely comfortable- The entire session took about an hour and a half to two hours and we were able to get her and at least 5 to 6 different little outfits ! It was great I got my newborn session I made my baby book, and I was happy! Now fast forward six months to yesterday- We contacted Karen almost 2 weeks ago for the six-month photo shoot she got us right and without any hesitation- and we really appreciated that knowing how busy her schedule is! And again with my million questions I texted her and asked her what to bring. She gave us some great suggestions on what to wear and what the baby should wear so the pictures can come out great. I completely trust her coming from her years of experience he really knows what she's talking about! Again she did the whole shoot with such ease! Sayeh just loved her ! I had brought with me a bag full of different little outfit for her to change into but once again used all of Karen head pieces which are to die for! We got in at least five outfit changes and manage to get all the group shots we wanted also before she got too fussy . We even stopped for a little milk snack for Sayeh to be able to extend the shoot a little bit longer . Karen is just so accommodating. Karen made the whole process so simple ! I was having so much fun I really didn't want the session to end! We cannot wait to see what the pictures look like! We can't thank you Karen enough for being there to capture such awesome moments. If you are looking for a great photographer for newborn session, baby or family shoot look no further! KAREN IS THE BEST!!!! She is absolutely a dream to work with. This being our first experience with doing newborn photos we didn't know what to expect. Well let me tell you that she exceeded our expectations to the max. From the very beginning Karen was responsive to emails. Even so that when I first emailed her to inquire about her services, she was on vacation and rather then letting me sit for days on end with no response, she replied to me letting me know that she was on vacation and that she would get back to me as soon as she was back in the office. Which I greatly appreciated. All of Karen's directions on how to prepare for the day were spot on. Which you can tell that her directions are derived from her experience. Karen was extremely patient thru the whole time with her. We never felt rushed or pressured to try and get our baby to calm down. As she said once when I apologized for our cranky little girl she said "Its not like you know what she wants, she's only 5 days old." Which made us all laugh and relieved me of my irritability. When our little one needed to be fed she let us relax in her studio. The whole day was very relaxing and memorable. Not to mention that we got some beautifully adorable photos to remember our little peanuts first days in this world. Karen's props that she has are amazing. Im sure that Karen and I could have kept dressing up our little girl for hours and hours. However my feisty little girl was soooooo over us. haha I will be recommending her to anyone looking for a newborn photographer and family photographer. We look forward to working with Karen again. Karen has been capturing our family photos every year for the last 4 years and I would never ever use anyone else. She is absolutely amazing! I don't know how she captures such unexpected amazing moments but she does! She knows how to work with very young toddlers (our son was about 18 months old during our first photo session) as well as older ones (he is 5 now). Karen has been photographing my family for the past 14 years. Not only is she remarkably creative and talented, but she is also ever so patient. We have had more than one occasion where my kids were not cooperating and she takes the time and effort to connect with them and get them to smile. First off Karen deserves way more than 5 stars. We recently went for our daughters newborn photoshoot. After looking at her website I knew going in that she was amazingly talented but the icing on the cake is that she is also warm, kind, professional, and magically able to put both fussy babies and hormonal new mothers at ease. Booking the appointment was a breeze as she is very timely in her communications and answered all my questions which were many as I was a bit nervous as this would be our first outing after returning home from the hospital. When we arrived Karen could not have been more accommodating, calming, and patient as our little angel was being quite the diva that day. The end result was that we have gorgeous photos that perfectly captured our sweet and silly little girl and I can not imagine any instance where the experience could have been better which is 100% due to Karen and her sense of humor and soothing demeanor. Karen's instincts are incredible and the expressions she captured make these photos ones we will cherish for a lifetime.
