The place is an example of a business that can not compete in the 21st century. Yea, I am sure they do good locally where they can charge an arm and a leg, but where any maintenance manager can submit a rough sketch online and have parts next day delivered this place is ticking on how much longer they can last. The long story short is I needed two pieces of steel cut to finish a project. They quoted me $65 dollars a piece, so $130 bucks, wow, expensive for 50 cents worth of steel. I might pay this if I had to have them tomorrow, but that wasn't the tomorrow price. That was the we can get it to you in maybe two weeks price. I also get it that they quoted laser cut, they didn't ask me but I've got loose tolerances on this project and I could have it cut on a sheer. Fine, still 130 bucks.
Of course I didn't only get one quote, that would be crazy. I got quotes from two other places. One local where the total came to $65, so half the price. And an online place out of Texas who's total came out to be $28 dollars including shipping for the same laser cut steel! I can't make this stuff up. I paid one fifth of the amount they told me it would be just by shopping around. I feel bad not supporting local companies, but geeze... at least be competitive. Maybe twice the price would be doable, but 5 times... I think not. read more
