I had gotten several estimates, but Mr. Varnes was equal to or less than others. He came out to measure very quickly and had my estimate to me in less than 24 hours. Other companies took days to come out and actually showed very little interest in doing the job. The men working for Mr. Varnes were wonderful. Courtesy, on time, friendly. We found them to be thoughtful about what made sense for our home and circumstances, meticulous about details, and careful with our furniture (which they cheerfully hauled back and forth). They also took great care to mitigate the dust from their work, putting up plastic sheeting on adjacent doors, and covering the contents of closets. Other small--but telling--things: the crew was always on time, was invariably friendly and polite, and they worked around us and our unhappy little dog with grace, consideration and good nature. We installed new hardwood the living room, refinished the abutting floor to match the living room, and installed pre-finished hardwood upstairs. We are thrilled with the finished product, and would use Varnes again in the future. Great job!

We had to cross over this strange little rickety bridge looking thing which isn't even really paved. Thank goodness my husband was in the car with me because it looked very sketch and I definitely would have thought I was in the wrong spot and turned around if I was by myself. He told me to keep going...and I did...and we arrived at Orlandini. The hilarious thing is they actually have a sign saying something to the effect of yes, this is really it! I cracked up when I saw it. The parking lot is humongous. it looks like a warehouse from the outside. It isn't particularly branded. I am just giving you the most detailed account I can so you know what to expect when you approach it because I was not expecting it at all. It's not unsafe or anything, it just wasn't what I anticipated and it threw me off. There is a normal glass door that we walked through to enter. Upon entering we were surrounded by tile. There are a few different sections; a front, a middle and a back. Someone said hello to us and let us know someone would be with us in a moment. We started perusing on our own. We didn't notice any particular organization method to how the tile was arranged in the store. Without any guidance we really didn't know what we were getting into outside of just seeing what we liked. We had four separate choices in our hands before someone was able to help us. We asked some questions and got some answers. He looked at the tile in my hands and immediately told me that we had some of the more expensive tile picked out (of course). I was already pretty attached to my top choices by that point so we asked for prices. We gave him the measurements our contractor took and he told us to give him a minute and then he gave us price points for each tile. What I really appreciated was that we could take the tile with us so we could see it in our home with our lighting and our paint, etc. That was huge! They took our information to ensure that the tile would be returned. If we didn't return it, we would have been charged for it. They told us to have it back in approximately 3-4 days. We wanted to keep one of them longer so we returned the other three and he told us it wasn't a problem to keep the 4th a bit longer. He also gave us a collection of grout samples to choose from. I know nothing about tile so that was unexpected for me. lol When we walked around Home Depot with the winning sample we got lots of compliments on it! One couple asked if we got it at HD. We told them no and referred them to Orlandini and they put it in their phone to head over. They have a much more expansive selection to choose from at Orlandini. Home Depot and Lowe's all have pretty basic stuff to choose from and not much of a selection. If you are looking to go out of the box I would highly recommend Orlandini. When it was time to order our (original) contractor called and gave all of the specs to the employee and then handed the phone off to me. I gave my credit card info and we were good to go! He called the (original) contractor when the tile was in and he went to pick it up for us. We had the perfect amount. There was hardly any waste. We didn't like the "pencil" our (original) contractor ordered (without us seeing it) and they let us return it which we appreciated. We couldn't return the one slab of tile we had leftover because it was a special order. It was on the pricey side but that was my own fault for having expensive taste. I do think it would be a good idea to have the tile arranged by price level so when you are walking around by yourself you have an idea of what you're getting in to. I guess they wouldn't luck out with people like me, then. lol. It would also probably be pretty difficult to keep track of that system with people taking tile in and out on a regular basis. The tile came in pretty quickly, was great quality and looks amazing in our kitchen! We are super happy with the finished product. My husband said it looks even better than he anticipated. Their hours aren't the most convenient for people that are working. They stated their hours are different because of covid. Fortunately I am working from home and my boss let me leave a little early so I was able to get there before they closed. But you will need to plan to get there before 4:00 because that's when they close. Covid protocol: masks are required. Since they aren't a big box store they weren't crowded (at least whenever we were there they weren't) which makes it easy to social distance from other customers. There were only a couple of people in there when we were and they weren't close to us. No temperature checks and I don't recall seeing hand sanitizer but that doesn't mean it wasn't there somewhere and that I just didn't notice. I recommend Orlandini for all of your tile needs. Shop small!

When we had pictures and a clear vision for what we wanted, the staff was able to quickly show us some options and make picking that project quick and easy. For the kids project, they were able to interact with us as well as our kids and figure out what they liked. The staff took time to ask questions and interact with the kids so that they could understand what they wanted. When that was done, they actually gave us some less expensive options to look at since the kids picked some of the most expensive accent tile in the showroom. Please try this supplier. Stephanie was very knowledgeable and helped us choose our shower doors and hardware with confidence. Ron quickly came out and measured the shower stall. The installers were neat, courteous and professional. We were pleasantly surprised how quickly the doors arrived and how swiftly the installers put them in. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. I highly recommend them.

This company is a complete disaster--unorganized, unprofessional, and clearly unqualified. Fast-forward three and a half weeks, they finally show up only to realize their 300-pound sheet of glass couldn't make it up the stairs. Why? They only measured the bathroom--never considered how they'd get the glass inside. After struggling to haul it up the stairs, they left, came back the next day, and failed again. By the third attempt, they promised to order a new sheet directly from the manufacturer, but after an extra week with no update, I started calling. No answer, no returned calls. I finally had to drive down to their office, and when I called from the parking lot, I watched as the phone rang out--then walked in to find multiple employees sitting around doing nothing. They claimed they'd been meaning to reach out but hadn't called my contractor back, either. Now, we're on their fourth attempt, and I've missed work five times waiting on them. They still don't know where the glass is or when they'll actually install it. Like we're supposed to have no jobs or lives. Then, on the morning of their supposed final attempt, I spoke to Jeanne, the owner. After messing up this job four times, she tells me she's "done coming out of pocket" for their incompetence. She had already decided to refund my money--and then hung up on me. After a month and a half of this circus and five no-show appointments, she just decides to bail and leave me hanging. Jeanne has to be one of the most disrespectful business owners I've ever encountered. Not only was their scheduling and communication a total joke, but they sent people who weren't even capable of handling the installation. For this company to ghost me for two months and then cancel the job outright is beyond outrageous. My contractor and I are both African American, and while I didn't want to believe that was a factor, after dealing with this company, I'm not so sure. Since moving back into a marginalized community, I've seen this attitude more than once--people assume there's a lack of knowledge or professionalism on our end. But here's the reality: I own a business myself, and I can assure you this level of incompetence and blatant disrespect is unacceptable. They talk like they're professionals, but it's all smoke and mirrors. Avoid this company at all costs.
