Five Star Painting is Five Stars!…read more I cannot speak highly enough about Five Star Painting! This is saying something given that my husband and I are both quite picky about most things. We had our 1,400 square foot condo painted, and it was a brilliant job. We've wanted to do this for more than a year, and with both of us now working from home, found this an opportune time. However, there was also concerns about coronavirus, and having people in my home. FSP Rep Colson was very understanding of my concerns about being safe. I know it's a focus of this company's as well. We found the staff to be friendly, conscientious, and very good at their jobs. The entire team was great. The person taping the baseboards, doors, and windows was so incredibly precise and fast. The lead painter was amazing. While on stilts, he painted a perfect freehand edge at the top of every wall. Freehand! When we made suggestions or requests, they were more than happy to comply. With a smile. The team wanted to make sure we were happy with our home. This team went above and beyond to make sure we were completely happy. Now at the end of this job, we're completely in love with the colors we've chosen, and the beautiful way they were applied to the walls of our home. I will not hesitate to recommend Five Star Painting to my family and friends. In fact, I already have! High quality work, professional staff, and reasonably priced. We could not be happier. That said, the quality of the job done at my new house was so poor that I was compelled to give the public my experience of 5 Star's service quality for our property in the western suburbs of Columbus. I'll lead with the positives because it wasn't all bad. They were responsive and quite friendly with my wife (who handled the majority of the scheduling) while we were setting up the consultation. They were flexible with our times, and the site/project manager himself (Cole) was great to work with. He was flexible, heard our concerns after the fact, and did his best to fix them. We have no qualms with him or his attempts to rectify our situation. All that being said, this was the poorest paint job I've ever seen, and I used to paint interiors to pay for my schooling. I've seen slop jobs before and this was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Just to name a few of the issues... 1. Sanding dust was EVERYWHERE in our house upon moving in. No one cleaned it up after they finished, on either of our floors. Scratch that...my wife cleaned it up during our move in. Basic sanding rule is that you clean up the dust afterwards. Especially when it's not your house and you're doing a job for someone else. They didn't, so we had to breathe that stuff while our boxes were coming in. 2. There was paint dripping in every room. This is no exaggeration. I'm talking about our stove, outlets, bathroom floors, office carpet, curtain rods, etc. You name it and chances are it had paint dripping on it. 3. Clumped paint in the upstairs hallway, meaning rather than changing the can out they opted to scrape the bottom of the barrel. 4. Evidence of either poor/no taping around the edges, paint dripping onto several outlets. These are only to name a few of the things we had to deal with. We had them come back and fix whatever we could find on short notice, and to be fair they did try to correct some of the issues. But several weeks out we are still finding problems. Entirely unacceptable. Over this entire episode I started losing track of the issues at around #29-30. It would be comical if it weren't so infuriating. I have no idea what the problem was or why there was such a breakdown of quality control. But whatever it was, it should never have been our problem to deal with. We paid several grand for this job and, to be frank, I could have hired a few HS students from the school down the road for half that and they would have done a better job. Avoid this paint company. This last communication was sent on 09/09/2026 (several days before our review, we wanted to give them time to respond and make this right.). We also informed him directly that we would be leaving a review so that others could be informed of the shoddy work. We were ghosted and completely ignored, thus we left a review. We still have not received any communication from them as of this posting. While they may appear to be presenting an outward appearance of attending to customer concern, please note that our experience has been one met largely with private silence. Got our friendly reminder before the appointment. AJ came out and was a gem super helpful easy to understand when he was sharing the challenges with our fireplace. We spoke through options and he was super professional. He very quickly submitted our request for a quote later that day or the next so it was prompt. Emailed him back after my husband and I spoke and had a follow up question - no response as of yet and our appt was on 11/11/24. Then we started to get calls from the office following up on our appointment between 11/12 - 11/13/24. It would be helpful when vmails are left to be specific on the reason for one's call - to state the company name and phone number without context unfortunately isn't helpful. We played a lot of phone tag and I wasn't clear for the call it was simply to call Fireplace Pros. When we did finally connect the question was how our appointment was and did we have any questions? I did follow up again asking for the specific quote we had emailed AJ on after our appointment and that was the last we heard of Fireplace Pros and that was on 11/13/24. No follow up quote on our follow up question and a little phone tag. Sadly what started out as a strong service has sort of quieted down without our follow up answers to our questions.

I would only accept highly rated companies with good reviews and an A+ BBB rating which came down to ~4 companies. I had planned on getting a few estimates and going from there. I honestly don't know why I chose to call CWS first, but I did, my call was taken by a wonderful lady whose name I cannot recall but she scheduled me immediately with Jeff. Well, I'll tell you, Jeff was excellent, he gave me honest assessments and helped me figure out what I needed, not what he could sell me. I had several requirements which he listed to and gave me honest, educated advice for all of them. Several weeks later my materials had been delivered, and we set up the date. The crew arrived on time and went straight to work after a brief conversation; I believe the crew chief was Daniel. The crew did an excellent job and listened to all my concerns, I had zero issues with them, they were great and did excellent work. In closing I will say, for the siding work I had done, and I've had siding done twice before, these guys were the best by a mile. All I can say in closing is, make sure you keep these people around, they make your business look really good.
