From the moment we stepped into the starboard cottage, we felt at home as it was so cozy, peaceful and their attention to details were truly mind blowing. A place far away from city life to enjoy with your family and friends. We will surely visit again. Oh and the amazing personal hot tub with the oceanview was to die for. Loved it. Note: basic breakfast items are provided, major restaurants and groceries are in Sooke which is 30 mins drive from Shirley, so you can bring your own groceries etc beforehand for convenience, fully equipped kitchen with bbq available.

Their website made it clear that we had to supply our own cookware and linens and while we brought a cooler with ingredients for a meal, we forgot to bring pots and plates and towels. The owners did not have to supply us with anything but they were kind enough to lend us the items we needed and they did it with kindness. We are going to stay here again for another ONP backpacking trip this year. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Soule Creek for the first time from a Thursday night until Saturday on the beginning…read moreof a long weekend. We chose to stay here because it was nearby where our family members were staying. after having read past reviews, we didn't come in with the highest expectations and unfortunately, while it wasn't the worst experience, it was definitely lacking to the point where we do not think we will return in the future. We stayed in the Pacific Rim Suite which is listed as being in the main lodge. Well, it most certainly is- it is directly across the tiny hallway from the main desk. This means you hear the office phone ringing and all the interactions between staff and other guests. To add to this, the room is not very soundproof at all- we could hear the entire conversation of those staying in the room behind/beside us. The room was clean but as previous reviews have mentioned, bring your own bottled water because the tap water definitely has a brown tinge to it. A small coffee maker, coffee, kettle, microwave and mini fridge are provided which is nice, but you need bottled water to make your coffee which they don't provide. The biggest issue we had was breakfast and the lack of staff presence... we were asked when we checked in what time we want breakfast- 8:30 or 9:30. We said 9:30. On our first morning, it was 9:40 and when I went to check on breakfast another guest told me she still hadn't received her 8:30 breakfast... when I finally tracked down a staff person I was told their chef didn't show so she, who is an office person, was doing it all but she knows we need ours. Well, over an hour passed and as we got closer to 11am we had not heard anything else or seen staff so we assumed we were not going to get our breakfast and left to find food elsewhere. We did receive our breakfast the second morning which was decent- it came with scrambled eggs, has browns, sausage, a bit of fruit and a croissant. The reason I am allowing the missed breakfast to dictate the rating I am giving is because nothing was done about it. No apology, no offer to provide any sort of compensation or small discount on our bill. when I mentioned it to the staff person upon checkout she told me the breakfast is complimentary so she doesn't think they would reduce my bill. I don't care if it's complimentary- something should be done to acknowledge the major inconvenience it caused (we were starving by the time 11am rolled around and there are very limited food options in Port Renfrew). We weren't asking for a free night or anything- even $10 off would have been a nice gesture. We checked out two days ago and have not heard a word from management. We do not plan on returning next time we come to Port Renfrew.

Our Yurt has hardwood floors, a gorgeous view, privacy, serenity and a luxurious wilderness experience. Included in your stay is a full service breakfast, with pancakes and eggs to order coffee, tea, juice. A fantastic 3 Course dinner is offered each evening. The food was harvested locally. Salmon caught that morning, mushrooms picked in the woods, blackberries mixed into handmade ice cream. All The food prepared by Tim and John was absolutely incredible. We were glad we made dinner reservation and ate our dinners at Soule Creek. This was our first time staying in a Yurt and it was incredible.

We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and eating dinner in the upstairs suite. The upstairs suite is HUGE and could fit a whole family all on its own. It doesn't come with breakfast though, so be forewarned! I stayed in the nautical room with a half bath and two twin beds. It was perfect for me and I slept well. I was a bit jealous of my co-worker in the quilt room because he had a jacuzzi! Unfortunately, the hostess Sandy was called away for an emergency, so we never got to meet her. She had a friend step in to help check us in and make us breakfast. She did a great job, especially on short notice. I actually would love to go back in the summer with my own family to explore the area and enjoy Sandy's hospitality all over again. The town itself was pretty much closed down since we visited in December. I bet it is more happening in the summer. Bring your own lunch and dinner foods or else your options will be limited to gas station food in the winter.

The view from the patio, where (weather permitting) Sandy serves her homemade from scratch breakfasts is nothing short of spectacular. You can eat your French Toast prepared by Sandy on the patio facing the Clallam River lazily flow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca or and watch the Bold Eagle being picked on by couple of crows. In the background you can see Vancouver mountains and fishing vessels and big cargo ships as well. Overall my experience was such as I was visiting an aunt for the summer. The husband made us a big breakfast with homemade granola, farm fresh eggs, fresh fruit, bacon, toast, coffee and orange juice! Delicious! We had some great conversations. The highlight of the place were the goats. Such characters, almost like dogs. Came when called by names and loved to be pet. What a wonderful stay. I wanted to like this place but booking through Orbitz led to a disastrous experience. When you…read morecheck into a hotel, you want it to be smooth and easy, but this was quite the opposite. First, the parking and registration is not so easy. If you're carrying luggage, be prepared to wheel it down a windy path toward a the reception door. When we were asked for a travel voucher, to which we presented the Orbitz reservation number; however this was not reflected in any reservation for The Latch Inn. They were also booked with no availability, so we had to find other lodging accommodations. We called to ask for an earlier check in since the Orbitz reservation indicated check in only from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. But at 3:15pm there was no answer at The Latch Inn, so we left a message. At 6:10pm a representative from The Latch Inn called us to ask what the message was because she could not find our reservation. Bad experience with Orbitz and with this situation. I am open to management response.

When I think of an Inn, I anticipate a caretaker with a lot of knowledge of the area. The two men working had a huge language barrier thus we stuck with the basic communication. And yes, you will hear your immediate neighbors very clearly.
