Curves in Merced Ca, has the most awesome Coaches and the best 30 minute workout! i have been a member of Curves since 2011. with the help of the Coaches and the workout I have lost 100 pounds! Curves not only has great Coaches but also they have Cardio classes and Zumba! it's a all around great workout. so much to offer! I tried Curves for the first time this week and loved it!! Tara, the owner was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging and she continuously made sure I was in good form and pushing myself. The body scan was fun! I enjoyed the quick pace and loved the stretching after my workout. The hydraulic machines allowed for as much or as little resistance as I needed. I really enjoyed the motivational atmosphere. I am excited to go back!!! read more

This is the ONLY gym type of experience that I've ever stuck with. That's because it is far more than a gym. All of the coaches and members are supportive and encouraging. It's a complete workout in 30 minutes. Their focus is for woman to be our best, strongest selves and not on weight loss. ( I did loose over 30 pounds though). I've seen Curves work for teenagers all the way up to women in their 90's. You go at your own pace and if you go regularly will quickly find a community. Try it! read more

My 86-year-old mother joined Curves and really liked the facility and the people until she was advised by her doctor that the type of exercise was damaging her joints. When she went it to stop her membership, the counter person tried to talk her out of quitting. When that didn't work, my mother was told she had to bring in a doctor's note. My mother went back to this facility with a doctor's note. Once again, the counter person tried to tell her that this type of exercise would be good for her. My mother turned in the Dr.'s note and explained that her doctor told her to stop. My mom left without really knowing if the monthly automatic payment would stop or continue. Very disappointing that people are trying to take advantage of a senior citizen. read more

I got a free week to try out the classes but after one session I knew it was not for me. The consultant that I met with seemed nice until I started showing signs that the place was not for me. I told her that I wanted to try other gyms around before I committed and she just said "well if you don't want to lose weight that is up to you." It's a very weird environment and not very youth friendly. Would NOT recommend it. read more

Terrible people working here that pretend to care about your health but really care about your money. They purposely manipulated me for more money. I asked them how to cancel my membership and they literally lied to me and said I didn't have to do anything! Guess what? Not true they charged me another month and never refunded me..despite it being their mistake. A group of manipulative people.. Don't send anyone here. The woman who owns this store is the worst! This is a great place to work out! The coaches are very encouraging and helpful, and the owner is super nice and is a great motivator! This is a place that I actually feel excited about going to exercise, which is saying a lot. The classes are really fun, and I like the fact that you work on so many different machines so that you work every part of your body. I have lost 60 pounds in ten months. I love knowing that when I go to Curves, I'll have the support and guidance I need to keep me on a healthy path! Zumba classes are GREAT! Very fun, and help you lose inches! I have the inside scoop on this one! Not only have I been working out at this Curves for about 3 years now, I also worked there for about a year. I would highly recommend this strength training circuit to women of all ages. Working out here always makes me feel better, and the staff is always very friendly and informative. Ask for Lainie or Natalie if you're interested...they are the best trainers there! I've been to other gyms in Merced, and I always come back to this Curves. read more

If the owner is there - leave. She does not respect reasonable requests of the members that are there who are there to exercise. Case in point: the music level was at the volume that members were enjoying - she came in and raised it extremely dangerous level especially in that size of the room. The reaction of the members in the room was - turn it down. She made a negative comment to the person who voiced the request and then only slightly turned it down. The other employees are respectful of the members - but the owner needs to stay away. read more

Not only does it provide for the physical well- being of their members but it also provides a wonderful sense of community. Seeing the amazing results of many members and how lives have changed for the better because of Curves is undeniable and remarkable. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, supportive and genuinely concerned for the health and happiness of its members. The one on one coaching is so helpful and needed. The many different activities that are offered help keep things fresh and moving forward. My experience is as follows. Curves and their members played such an important role in my life during one of the worst years of my life. If not for the love and support offered by this organization and its members, I don't know where I would be now. Women supporting women, it doesn't get any better than that.
