I was in Cumberland for work a few days ago, and I was walking back to my car to get back on the road to Baltimore, I saw Curtis'. I saw the words "weiners" and "since 1918" and promptly crossed the street and walked in. When you walk in for the first time, it's immediately clear that most people who walk in have been in before (10 or 100 times) and so have a regular order off their small menu. It was my first time, so I got a bit of an explanation and got a single wiener the way they serve it - with "sauce" (meat chili), brown mustard, and white onion. It was delicious. I could have eaten a couple more. They will mix it up for you if this combo of chili, mustard, and onion isn't for you. (They may have had some other items on the menu too, but I didn't consider them, so didn't notice!) On their drink list, I noticed buttermilk. The only person I've ever known to drink buttermilk was my paternal grandmother who was from rural Illinois, and I so I asked if they really still serve it. They do, and Gino (more on him later) brought me a little taste for nostalgia's sake. The space is larger than it appears from outside and full of character and history - all the walls covered with newspaper articles and photographs. Lastly, the service. Gino is the current owner - Curtis' is third-generation family-owned, and he is definitely a big part of what makes Curtis' special. He's warm and welcoming and funny and will definitely tell you the story of Curtis' if you're interested. They're cash only, so remember to bring cash with you. Curtis' is just one of those special places that seem like they're doing things the same way they were done 50-100 years ago. They're old school in the best way. A meal at Curtis' is like a journey into the past (including their prices, which are incredibly affordable and accessible for anyone who might stop in). I'm so happy I saw the building and thought "yeah, I should get a snack before I get back on the road." Curtis' is a special place, and I'd be happy to visit again when I'm next in Cumberland.

Four "with", two orders of fries abd two cokes.

The best hot dogs ever. No trip is complete to Cumberland without a visit to Curtis Famous Weiners. Gino Giatras you rock. Gino makes every customer feel so welcome. This is a Cumberland tradition dating back to 1918. These are Coney Island style. They make their own meat sauce and it's so good. Dogs are $2.00!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Walked in and was immediately greeted with a big hello and guided as to what they do. As Gino put it, " we do hot dogs with special sauce, mustard, and onions. That's what we're known for." The food was great, but the experience with Gino was a pleasure. he talked to us like we'd known him for years. He truly enjoys his work. So good I went back the next day before leaving town, walked in the door and heard a loud laugh with a "hey Todd, back again!" Yep remembered the name and everything. If you go to Cumberland and don't visit this place, you're denying yourself a true, genuine experience!

Traveling thru Cumberland, we stopped for lunch when "Coney Island Famous Weiners" caught my eye - Being from Jersey we KNOW AND LOVE our dogs " with or without". Anyway speaking with Gino was worth the stop alone, great attitude and lots of fun while waiting for our order. Nice favor to the dog with sauce and onions. And Gino makes a great chocolate milkshake! Worth the stop, walk-up window and sidewalk seating. Plenty of parking right across the street.

A taste of nostalgia from my childhood! They are great Coney Island dogs that we grew up loving and it brought back wonderful memories of our father who passed in February. Thank you Geno!

You don't stay in business for over a hundred years unless your food is amazing.

Unbelievably delicious food at dirt cheap prices. I am from Anne Arundel county, where Ann's dairy cream foot longs are national famous. While these are normal size hot dogs, they pack just as much flavor and equal the best hot dogs I've ever eaten. Whenever you are in the area stop by and pick up a hot dog, you won't be disappointed. And don't forget to try the chocolate ricky, it's basically a more delicious yoo-hoo. Every time I'm in town and make sure to stop by.

My favorite place for Coney Dogs. My third favorite hot dog place. I prefer the deep fried dogs as in Rutts Hut in NJ and Blackies in CT.

We called and they said no reservations. We walked over and noticed there are NO lights in the parking lot. This made it feel dangerous with cars driving around and very unsafe. After a few minute wait we were seated. Our waitress was either new or off her game that day. Our drink order eas taken fast, but that's where the positives end. She didn't come back for almost 20 minutes ro take our order. Another table that came in after us already had their food before we even ordered! The rest of the night was like this. Someone at a nearby table went to the bar for another beer because she took so long with them too. We were ready to leave but our waitress was nowhere to be found for almost half an hour. By that point the restaurant was practically empty. It's almost like she forgot we were still there. The food was decent, but a little overpriced for what it was. I ordered bbq while my wife had the rotisserie chicken. I thought it was a little bland. I overheard our waitress say they often have people come in who don't want to wait at the other steakhouse nearby. I would say change your plans to something else. You'll be thankful you did.

Nice lady - took our drink order and we looked over the menu. They have plenty of options from traditional bar food to some different entrees - but with it being lunch on a weekday I decided for something more standard. Ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with sweet hot as my tender sauce, and Mac and cheese as my side dish. The food came out somewhat quickly. The wrap however was very sparse in terms of the amount of chicken in it - I would say between the two halves of the wrap there may have been one? tender cut up. The sweet hot sauce was good - more on the sweet side but good. The mac and cheese side came in a very large bowl by side standards - and on first first I figured it would be a white cheese stronger flavor. However - the cheese didn't really have any flavor at all. I usually polish anything out in front of me, but found that this needed some sort of seasoning and or cheese flavoring. Could have been a bad batch and not their usual output. Service was good, food was ok. Would try again - definitely worth a trip. Just would like to see more in the wrap and flavor in the cheese.
