When my husband called the insurance company, the woman he spoke to said the office had not called or put in for a pre-authorization. According to the insurance company, the surgery should be almost completely covered. It seems to me that their business strategy is to wait until a few days before this major surgery to call the patient to discuss financing options. They leave the patient to assume the office is working in the patient's best interest and have contacted the insurance company for authorization. When I explained that I wasn't interested in orthodontics and just wanted the cleaning I had scheduled, I was told they couldn't do a regular cleaning and that I needed a deep cleaning due to gum disease.
