Do not hire CURRY movers and storage from Port Charlotte FL!!!!-- what you hear about movers this company is by far the worst!! They are a bait and switch company. Stole my $1000 laptop. Not to mention Kathy has no idea how to quote. Said 5.5 hours to go 8 miles down the road with 3 people at $1300. Said I had 40 additional items that were not in the quote and would not fit on the truck. Had Larry show up being all nice and pretending to help. My 76 year old husband had to load and unload everything in the garage not to mention what was not taken out of the house for the three days following. This company is nothing but a joke. Undisclosed Fees, Misleading Pricing & Unprofessional Owner I will start with this- I have never written a bad review about a small business- I also own a business and know sometimes things happen. But this is beyond anything I have ever experienced. I would not recommend Curry Moving & Storage company based on my experience. We needed assistance with a few large pieces of furniture (couch, dining table, 2 beds & a dresser) to be loaded into a U-haul. We sent them the address & photos of the furniture and were quoted a price for 2 hours minimum of work. Once they completed the 2 hours, the mover presented me with a bill that included an additional half hour of labor and transportation cost. These additional transport time fees were never disclosed upfront- after all, they knew how long it would take them to arrive at our location and drive back, it could have easily been included. The final cost ended up being significantly higher than expected (about 25%). After a lengthy discussion with Kathy at the office, she said to disregard those fees and pay the original quote. The mover then insisted payment be made with cash or check (which was also not disclosed nor is in their contract that we signed). While the mover was still there, we attempted to call Kathy back twice to pay with a card and there was no answer either time. The gentleman finally got tired of waiting, sent her a text and wrote on the form, Paying by credit card per Kathy. About an hour goes by and the owner, Larry, calls. The first thing out of his mouth was "I hear we have a problem & you are refusing to pay" We explained what happened and he said we were lying and that everything was disclosed. He insisted the additional charges were "industry standard". How would we know this unless it was disclosed in the quote? He then threatened to come to our location to "handle this". Having concerns for our safety, I paid the additional charges. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional business owner. The way he spoke to my wife and I was disturbing and unhinged. A moving company should be transparent and upfront about all potential charges before the job begins, not surprise customers after the fact. If you choose to use this company, make sure you get everything in writing, including ALL possible fees, because the pricing was not handled honestly or professionally in my case. Very disappointing experience. *I have a copy of the quote that was sent over and reviewed every line and nowhere was it disclosed that we would be responsible for additional travel time. They also added a 3% fee for using a credit card which was not in their estimate. read more

I think these people are brick packers posing as a moving company. I am on my second week of unpacking and I am dumbfounded by the lack of sense or care taken with my belongings. I paid 3,700.00 for their services - after I have packed myself and moved across the country multiple times without ANY issues. Professional packers don't pack large, 80 lb boxes of dishes. They don't wrap a used rubber glove & plastic hair-dying items wrapped in 8 sheets of paper. They don't wrap empty glassware boxes to bulk up the amount of boxes they can bill for. They don't pack the bottoms of garment boxes with anything else they find that fits and ruin your good, hanging clothes so bad that every piece has to be dry cleaned...after you paid for 10 garment boxes. They did this to ALL 10 GARMENT BOXES. And they don't use your silk runners and expensive Pier 1 throw pillows or decorative plants and floral arrangements to wrap or cushion plastic or wrought iron pieces...they had 8 sheets of paper for the USED Glove!! In one particular garment box, they packed a boot from a closet that had water damage from the hurricane. The boot was full of mold - obvious, hairy mold - packed in a GARMENT BOX with Dry-Clean Only dresses. Greg did well but Larry packed my kitchen - he included SO MANY EMPTY BOXES IN MY BOXES! The two angsty brothers were so full of attitude that I had to call their office. From the beginning, I spoke with the owner and explained that I needed 4 men to pack me up in 1-2 days. My 3/2 was more like a 5/2 because it was heavily accessorized and had a very packed 2car garage. He agreed to send 4 guys. Day 1 He sent 3 guys - "sorry we're short" Bad attitude brother #1 would have been asked to leave if I hadn't been in such a bind. Late in the afternoon, he sent 3 more men with additional supplies (because they had underestimated). I was billed for 2 trucks, not just one, to park at my house at a rate of 60.00/hr. Day 2 they sent 2 guys - brother #2 would have been released from his duties in the first 15 minutes. But the movers were coming the next day and there would be no vacancy to remain in the area the next night. As it was, I was paying 200.00/night in the nearest roach motel an hour away in Sarasota. I had 155 boxes total and this has been an exercise in patience as I've had to calm myself with EACH box I open. Maybe they're good at using hand trucks and packing or unpacking a truck. But they aren't professional packers. Period. If you need help packing - seek out a church youth group or ask friends or neighbors for help. You'll be saving yourself some very unnecessary grief and LOTS of money. PS. Greg did a good job. His boxes have been reasonable. read more

Larry and Greg are two very hard-working men. I had some heavy pieces that had to be taken down a flight of stairs with an extremely sharp turn. These guys never complained, kept their nose to the grindstone. Would run circles around guys half their age. Never judge a book by its cover. Not one broken or damaged item. Courteous. I have been using Curry Moving and formally storage for more than 4 years. They have moved my valuable items a few times and have always been professional, prompt usually under the estimated amount to move the items. They care for my things probably better than I do. I could not give a higher recommendation to a moving company and my family has used many over the last 50 years. If you want fair pricing and some folks that actually care about getting your things to where you need them in one piece and not missing things call them. I was quoted one price for moving, then found out that did not include the boxes so went from 900 to1200 dollars the final bill was over 2600 more than double!!! would not do buisness with this Co. then I was hung up on.this is not right. They are totally unreliable. They changed our scheduled morning move to late Friday afternoon without notice. Our condo doesn't allow movers at that hour and when we spoke to the Curry manager he was RUDE. They obviously don't need any more customers. Find another mover, you will have to anyway. read more

Very dissatisfied customer. They came to my mother's house for a quote - 2-man move - $605.00. At the end of discussion, "Well, maybe a 3-man might be better". No quote. My elderly mother was moving to an independent living facility. Day of move, sent 3-men. Move went O.K. Had to wait on the clock for another moving company to finish so they could use the elevator - 1.5 hours. (Wasn't advised, even though they move in this area often). Movers dragged their feet at end of move -45/60 min. When finished, presented a bill for $960.00. Took $60.00 off for one hour. The sales manager and owner were rude, uncooperative, and unprofessional when requested to reimburse $100.00 for the difference between the estimate and acutual bill. The owner said I was, "mean and vindictive", when I said I was going to let others know of the poor service received. Went to the Better Business Bureau, but no resolution.
