Why, you ask? Because our daycare package ran out last week, and per usual, we were going to buy it the next time we attended daycare. Unbeknownst to us, they were canceled out of the party, without even a phone call. Lucy and Ethel have been going there 4-5 days per week since they were puppies for almost 8 years now, except during our trips. Why would today be any different? We called and made sure we were rescheduled for the Mardi Gras party, and now we're told it's full and they can't go. This is how they treat their long time loyal customers. We've been consistently buying 30 day packages for almost 8 years, when they first opened their doors. Time to checkout K9. We heard they have a pool. #Feelingdisappointed #Feelinghurt

We love using Golden Paws for our 4 dogs. It is definitely on the high end price wise but you do…read moreget what you pay for. Not every boarding facility gave me access to the back areas for the tour but GP did and I was so appreciative. One of our dogs is very sensitive to being in a kennel environment as he was sent to the shelter multiple times before we adopted him. Golden Paws is nothing like a kennel; it's clean and beautiful and the noise level is very moderate from other animals and nonexistent from door slamming and other chaos. They are also flexible and allow us to have one dog in day care while one gets solitary play and the other two see each other. A lot to keep track of I'm sure! But they did take a very extensive intake on food, behavior, etc. before their first stay and always ask if I need to update. My only hesitancy when boarding is that they leave at night but I do trust when they say they have good system monitoring and someone nearby in case of an emergency. Every time we come back they recognize our dogs and are ready to take excellent care of them. Thank you Golden Paws!

After enough frustrating experiences at PetSmart, I decided I'd rather spend extra for consistency, quality care, and to support a fellow veteran-owned small business. Unfortunately, this experience was anything but that. When I called, the person who answered seemed dismissive from the start. I explained who I was and mentioned my one prior visit about a year and a half ago. She asked for my availability, and I told her I was flexible--whenever they had space. She seemed irritated that I didn't use their online portal, but with two dogs, it's often easier to coordinate schedules over the phone. I was upfront about my dogs being a bit fluffier than usual and possibly matted due to a hectic winter, a move, and being a college veteran student managing limited funds. I made it clear I was completely fine with a low cut. That's when the conversation took a turn. She immediately told me they would not be seen due to matting. On top of that, she claimed that during their last visit--over a year and a half ago--my dogs were "problematic." This was the first time I had ever heard that. When I picked them up back in 2024, I distinctly remember Kayla speaking positively about their behavior. If there were concerns, why weren't they communicated then? And more importantly, why ask for my availability at all if you had already decided not to service my dogs? The inconsistency and lack of transparency were frustrating. On top of that, the phone rang endlessly before being answered, and my first call was actually disconnected, forcing me to call back just to speak with someone. For a business that prides itself on quality service, the customer experience felt like an afterthought. I work hard for my money and for my dogs, and I choose to spend it at places that respect both. Choosing to bring your pet here feels like a gamble--you may get great grooming, but you may not get basic respect or clear communication. Lastly, during my first visit, I wasn't aware they offered a veterans discount. When I mentioned that I was a 14-year Army Special Operations veteran, there was no effort made to acknowledge or adjust the pricing. At the end of the day, I'd rather take my time and money back to Brooklyn, where I know veterans of color--and their pets--are treated with the respect and value they deserve.
