100% satisfied and grateful for Current Auto Performance! This is a long one and a good read, so please enjoy it. This shop can do it all from basic classic car repairs, rear ends and diffs to all out race cars, street to track they have a wide range of awesome stuff in the shop and coming and going. The knowledge they have and ability to problem solve is amazing, Patience and understanding is what Bry and Current auto is great at, on top of repairs and modifying cars.We brought them a project truck that was just going to be some repairs for road worthiness and a Holley EFI swap, oh did this turn into a rabbit hole, none of which is the shops fault. We had some suspension work done at a shop nearby and Bryant and his team were very happy to coordinate the work they were doing with the other shop. They even helped move it across the street to the other shop. That's unheard of today. We spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure out issues that came up due to the other shops' work. We found out that the 260k engine was quite lacking in compression and needed replacement or rebuilding. We decided to rebuild it and snuck in some mods to get a little more performance and help with today's needs ( ssh don't tell my wife). I take full responsibility for the next part. I had done some research before sending Bry the truck and bought a Holley 4 barrel and intake manifold to go with the engine, turns out that combo sucked and was too much for the 250 I6 engine. I was led astray by my research and opinions of others. We fought and fought with tuning issues for a crazy long time. We sold the 4 barrel and switched to a 2 barrel Holley and still had issues, we then swapped to another intake manifold and things got better. Bryant was calm and patient during all this and went way above and beyond dealing with these issues. During all of this process we have added things to do and improve and mostly listened to his recommendations on what steps to take next. While we have our super rusty family truck back and are finally excited to be able to drive it and enjoy a little bit of it we are extremely grateful for Bry and the shop. I 100% recommend Current Auto Performance to anyone and everyone, just dont be like us and suck all the shops time up in the rabbit holes. Listen and follow guidance of those who know. read more

I have a 1967 mustang which needed attention from people who know what they are doing. Bryant is attentive, passionate, knowledgeable, and all around one of the nicest guys you will meet. Their prices are more than fair. I had a Holly Sniper EFI, Tremec TKX 5 speed, rear axle rebuild, driveshaft components, and a new fuel tank installed. I googled the prices compared to the invoice and theirs was the same as online and even cheaper on some items. There are a lot of shady shops out there. I'm telling you- this is not one of them. I'll be bringing it back for a supercharger and some other upgrades/all routine maintenance in the future. read more

I like to start my reviews with a disclaimer. I dont just give high ratings to give them. To EARN a high rating, a business needs to be able to do something that elevates them above other similar businesses. So how does this shop measure up? Well you know how you have that neighborhood store or drug store you go to when you need something? that shop that you feel comfortable going to because the workers there make you feel like you are part of their family? Thats current auto performance. The owner and his staff are the kind of people that you can just drop in to ask questions about your car or just to hang out and talk cars. They installed a custom nirtous oxide kit in my car, which i used to do drag race with. the install went great and it improved my drag slip times, greatly. So to keep it short, highly recommended. read more

This place is filled with a bunch of amateur backyard mechanics. I brought my 1966 Mustang 302 in for an overheating issue. The car was only overheating on the freeway. I brought it in and Bryant said that it needs a coolant flush and some electric fan work totaling $950. I told them to make sure they drive the car on the freeway once they fix it to make sure the overheating is resolved. 2 days later they call me and told me the car is fixed. I asked Bryant if they drove it on the freeway and they said that they did, and the car did not overheat when they drove it, and it's good to pickup. He also said they fixed the electric fan. I come pick it up and the electric fan they were supposed to fix don't even turn on anymore since they messed up the electrical wiring! Bryant just says sorry, and spends another 40 minutes while im there fixing something that he said was fixed over the phone. They created a ugly wiring mess in my engine bay to fix this. Also, I drove the car home after and it STILL overheated after driving for only 8 minutes! I specifically asked if they drove it on the freeway and they said they did, which Bryant even agreed was a lie over the phone, after I had to pull over and let the car cool down on my way home. I brought it back and had to pay ANOTHER $80 for them to finally "fix it" with a radiator flush, which Bryant insisted would cure it. They still couldn't fix the car 2 days later and he just said "yeah whoever rebuilt the engine did a bad job and overbored it, which is why its overheating", even though the engine was blueprint engine with 2800 miles on it. These guys lack the attention to detail to work on classic cars! Their rates start at $120/hr. I also got my carburetor "rebuilt", but they just dropped it off at a random carburetor shop in North County. They said they installed a rebuilt one, but they never even adjusted the jets on the carburetor for my car! Edelbrock and Holley both say that ALL CARBURETORS need to be re-jetted to match the car setup it is on. Obviously, I am upset at this places lack of detail and Bryants poor management. read more

I have to add my great experience along to the others. The ownership are honest, knowledgeable, friendly guys who I trust. They can do basic stuff like diagnosing my oil leak, to pimping out my LED headlights, all the way to installing a supercharger and nitrous. I've had them soup up my ride and they did a fantastic job. They are like surgeons with a wrench, very precise and you can see that they really love what they do and want to make sure you're happy from the moment you entrust your baby to them to the moment you leave with your new and improved badass baby. I was introduced to Bryant and his company a couple of weeks ago when I received my 1966 Corvette. Let's just say it did not arrive in the running condition that it was supposed to. I immediately took it to my trusted mechanic and he was unable to get it going so I consulted a friend and he immediately recommended Bryant and his company Current Auto. I spoke with him on the phone. He was very thorough, non-pushy, and knowledgeable. I had the car towed there and he gave it the killer once-over and not only fixed the carb but a number of other things that needed to be done and others that I wanted to have done. All the work was done in a timely manner and Bryant is a really good communicator as to status of the car, other things that come up, and what DOES NOT need to be done. I actually saved $400 and had more work done than my "trusted mechanic" wanted to do. And Bryant siad we did not need to do the two most expensive things my "trusted" mechanic wanted to do. Long story short, if you have a classic car, hot rod, or other muscle car needs, you need not look further than this review and Bryant. Class act. Mellow guy. And really good work. I have used Current Auto Performance over the years for my 1966 Corvette, my 1970 Cuda, and now my 1967 Corvette. Bryant is easy to work with, he gives great advice, and his suggestions have saved me a lot of heartache and money. Most recently he swapped a GM crate 502 and a Tremec TKX transmission into my car. He even referred me to an auto body shop that did an outstanding job in restoring my engine compartment. They ran into some issues with the engine swap but quickly solved the issues and kept moving forward. Bryant continually kept me up to date on the progress of my car. One of the most impactful advice he gave me was to wait on the manufacture of the brand new product Tremec TKX transmission instead of using the old design Tremec TKO. The wait was worth it as the TKX is a far superior transmission. Bryant even sold my old worn out transmission and credited my account. My car runs great with zero issues. Got 3.80s with an Auburn LSD installed recently and I have to say, Current knows what customer service is all about! Not only was everyone there friendly, knowledgeable and fun, but we even set up a weekend appointment as I work Monday through Friday. It was great talking cars while we were there and Bryant truly knows his stuff, I felt about ten times less manly as he quickly had the third member out of the car and made the job look like child's play! I have such a difficult time finding a quality shop that can work on my '69 caddy. Friend of mine recommended this place and I couldn't be happier. I went in for ignition and suspension upgrades on my '69 cadillac and I have to say the job was top notch. The owner was very knowledgable (had an hour long conversation about quadrajet carbs and how to tune them) and it really showed how much passion he has for his work which in my opinion makes all the difference in the world. I had a lot of work done on my car, a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice, and these guys listened to the ideas I had in mind and advised me on the smartest and most economical choices. They are not here to burn your money or waste your time. They informed me of every change and stayed in contact with me the entire process. They gave me daily updates and even sent me photos, and when there was an issue they informed me right away. I was so happy with the work they have done. the best thing about this auto shop is their honesty. too many shop lack this major quality and I'm sure many of you have felt jipped after the work was done. wether you have a high performance car or a regular ol'car they're thorough, efficient, and knowledgable. they mostly work on the mechanics so no dents or broken windshield but they've been the industry for so long they have plenty of trustworthy network and referrals. just call them and ask!!! read more

There are always cars coming in and out of there and still they've always gotten to mine in a timely manner. Ryan is great at staying in touch to update me on what's going on. If he's not sure about something he goes and grabs the owner, Bryant, who will interrupt his work just to discuss how he can help you.
