What a wonderful experience! Esther truly went above &…read morebeyond to make our session magical. My 26-year old niece was visiting from Sweden. In all her years living there she had never had a professional hairstylist. Typically, when she would enter a salon she would be asked to leave. "We can't help you here", was a familiar refrain. Her hair is thick and curly and not what they are accustomed to in Sweden, apparently. Esther to the rescue! With a very small window of opportunity due to my niece's travel schedule, Esther was incredibly accommodating to fit her in at the end of the day in the middle of the week. When my niece arrived, Esther gave her so much TLC it brought tears to my eyes. For the next 3 hours Esther addressed years of neglect and had my niece's hair rejuvenated and bouncing with her naturally beautiful curls! Esther gave my niece the benefit of her years of experience and thoroughly explained how to care for and keep her curls bouncing when she returned to Sweden. Ultimately, my niece left with renewed confidence and delight in seeing her own reflection in the mirror. Thank you Esther. You're the best!

Liel is an artist and represents everything you would want in a hair stylist. Okay, I will admit…read morethat I'm afraid one day she will become so famous that she won't have time for my hair. However, I also know that I'll be doing this world a big disfavor if I don't put this review out there, so here it goes... I am ultra picky when it comes to a hair stylist. And I mean picky as in throughout med school in Chicago and residency in LA, I always ended up back in Huntington Beach, Orange County to see my hair stylist! My world was turned upside down last year when my stylist in OC told me she was moving to another State. Nervously I started searching the LA area. Thankfully, I came across Balayage by Liel and set up an appointment. Liel took her time with my hair, asked all the right questions, while still maintaining the confidence that you look for in a stylist. She is extremely detail oriented and pretty much paints your hair picture perfect. My balayage has NEVER looked better, while my hair still looks healthy and shiny. In fact, when I look at my pictures from last year, I wish I started seeing her sooner! Liel is the absolute GAME CHANGER and the Holy Grail that every girl looks for in a hair stylist. At the same time, she's so humble and personable that you'll totally feel comfortable and at home. If you're looking for the perfect balayage, Liel is your girl. Absolutely, positively, 100% recommend her (as long as you guys don't make her so busy that I can't get an appointment hehe ) Thank you Liel for doing what you do!

I found Liel on yelp after searching for blonde balayage near me. My hair was literally a hot mess…read moreand I needed help finding a better solution to my bad roots! I ended up getting two "root smudges" and bangs trimmed by Liel and I really liked the color - hooray for smudges! The price seemed fair and even though she was a little slow to respond/schedule/confirm the first time, the second time she was very accommodating to my very last minute request, and to me, that more than made up for the first slow time around. However....when I tried to schedule a third appointment on July 23rd, it turned into days and weeks of confusing texts (the most recent I received today) that quite frankly got a little personal and unpleasant I think Balayage by Liel would be so much better with a more efficient scheduling system, and by keeping the communication with me, the client, more professional and respectful. Based on my poor customer experience, and my current hair withstanding, I would not recommend Balayage by Liel to my friends or family. With damaged hair and growing roots, time is of the essence, and when it comes to customer service, I don't think it's right to speak to a customer (who only wants to book your good services!) in an ill-tempered way. But I have to give credit where it's do! I liked the color and maybe if it wasn't a 110 degree summer the smudge would've lasted longer and I wouldn't have bleach blonde next to dark roots (for the record I am naturally blonde but there is such a stark line between the dye and natural color ). I liked that Liel introduced me to "root smudges" which I think are a brilliant solution to rooted blondes everywhere! And the salon (albeit empty with no refreshments offered) was clean and pretty with lots of light I wish Liel nothing but the best and I hope this review will be helpful!

Response to the owners response 9.7.26:…read more Just saw the owners response and she said I asked for the updated style a week before. On the screenshot you can see I asked in July almost 2 months before and then I followed up a second time a week before asking to clarify the rate and timing, and the biz owner asked for my name and didn't respond with the price 2x. I think an apology for a lack in response would be nice but it seems as though we're continuing to have a disconnect. As I said many times in my review the hair was great and her team was great, it was the communication where I think the business should take a bit of ownership for. Original review 8.30.26 Had an uncomfortable experience. In person she was super nice and her staff was talented. But there was a miscommunication on the rates. I asked for the rate of one style on text months before and she said $450. I shared another photo hair example and asked if there was a change in price and she didn't respond . Once she did my hair she said it was $250, and I ended up spending $825 total which is something I could not afford. We had only had text exchanges and the first style I asked about and she said it was 900 and I said "ee okay" and asked about more affordable ones so clearly I was price sensitive. After when I told her I was uncomfortable with what happened she said I should have asked again or looked at the website (which I never did, I got her cell from a friend so I didn't even know it was listed online). She then offered to give me the tip back and I said I don't feel comfortable with that because her staff deserves the tip, it should have come off the $250 that wasn't properly communicated. In conclusion since she won't refund me the $250 and she would only do the tip (which I won't accept), even if I can't afford this at all, I'm just gonna pay $825 when I expected $517 before I got there and never go back to her. And if anybody goes, only go if you aren't price sensitive and triple check prices before she starts Anything - as a small biz owner she said she's busy and not active on texts and I don't think that's an excuse at all, I'm a small biz owner and I do my best to communicate and set honest expectations with clients. This was a very difficult experience for me because the $450 with a tip was already a stretch but she was highly recommended so for the first time ever I was gonna pay for that. (Usually have paid under 200 as a circus performer with very low income). In addition i came in which the photo of what I wanted and she encouraged other colors and changes to the style which is fine, but it felt like she didn't want to do the full style I thought we had agreed upon. On the photo there's two braids in the front and she said not to do it because it looks better and I said maybe 3x I need it because my face doesn't look good with a face frame. She just seemed annoyed with my requests even though it was on the photo I thought we had agreed upon Again they do a good job, just set clear clear expectations from the start and I hope you don't have my painful experience that I had.
