At first bundled with Nebula, free of charge. After one year, it became 20$/y, after two years, it raised to 50$/y. For a website I never connected to, that's nothing different than a scam. I can't tell you about the service, because I've never used it. Despite never using it, they charged me 200$ in a few years, which is a lot for nothing. Of course they contacted me before raising the prices: a small line, colored light-grey on top of white background, with a title that has nothing to do with it. Signed up under a special annual price two years ago. I only used the service a few times. After the first year, Curiosity billed me for another full year at the full, regular price subscription. (I suppose this was my fault as I did not keep track of the date). When I saw the charge on my bank statement, I promptly cancelled any further subscriptions. Now normally, you'd think I still had a paid year of service, but no. They cancelled my access immediately and kept the money that was prepaid for a year of service. No other streaming service does that. Word to the wise: You can see most of their content for free on YouTube or on various cable TV channels like NatGeo, etc. read more

This company just charged a credit card account that had been closed for almost a year. They never gave me a heads up that I was going to be charged. They charged me for a whole year and then refused to issue a refund for the remaining 11 months. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!! Their content sucks anyway.... read more

Stay away and don't ever sign up. It is like the hotel California. they don't notify when your annual subscription is going to renew and then you call and they will not refund your money because you just signed up for a year. It is just a scam and method to take your money. Bad company and questionable ethics. read more

Founded in 2015, Curiosity Stream is a Video On Demand (VOD) streaming service that has approximately 2,000 non-fiction videos. I am disappointed because I had been watching their 2 minute trailers for their shows via my BluRay player since last spring. Never knowing when a deployment will start, I told my fiancee that we should sign up when I return next... For me that was the 5th, after catching up on my sleep. I juggled dates concerning when would we have our Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years Eve. The next day I began trying to remember all that I wanted to purchase for gifts (Thanks for being there AMAZON). On the morning of the 7th I recalled even more items, including an annual subscription to Curiosity Stream. So I got right on that. I knew there was a great 40% off deal because I had spotted it while watching a commercial (thank you Direct TV) while out to sea for the past few weeks The rest of my review is what sadly happened when I tried to sign up, completely unaware of the expiration date of the 40% off offer. I DIALED: 844.778.8999: STATUS: Been on hold now for 39 minutes 10 seconds. FACTS: Just got back from my most recent deployment and with that said I have yet to celebrate Christmas. I am currently waiting on Amazon to deliver gifts I ordered. The best gift was to be the giving of Curiosity Stream. While away I heard that there was a 40% off deal. Unfortunately, I just learned (by coming to FB) that the offer was over yesterday. UGH! Foiled by my deployment again. UPDATE: Customer Service hold time now at 43m 49s LIKE A BROKEN RECORD: I will know this entire recording of a program that is called "Curious Minds", which is playing while I am on hold, by heart soon. It is a full 10 minutes in length... status: I am in my 3rd rerun. PONDERING: Perhaps I have to ask myself, how much do I want to impress the gift recipient? Very engaging content. I subscribe yearly and have on my Roku since they started. I'm very interested in science and astronomy and enjoy the selection they offer . I gave 4 stars only because in the fields that interest me all the content is very outdated and nothing has been add in astronomy many years. I try to support the streaming channels I enjoy even if I rarely watch them. But on a whole The Curiosity Channel is an excellent resource and an exquisite learning resource for all ages with content to satisfy all interests. read more

So far, we are enjoying the content, but there are some SERIOUS problems with this service which make it frustrating to watch. We are using our BluRay to watch on our TV. The interface is terrible. 1. You can add a show to your Watch List, but there is no way to get to that list. 2. There is no "Continue Watching" list. You actually need to search for the show each time. 3. Every search results in exactly 12 results, tiled on the screen. Search for "planets" and you get 12 results. This is either weird incompentence by the programmers or a marketing ploy to hide the true number of shows available. 4. There is no field in the description for Year Released. If you're watching a doc on microbiology, robotics or particle physics, you really need to know when it was done. Some science is out of date in just a few years. read more

Truly a BAD channel to bother subscribing to! They NEVER add new programs to their line up and the supposed toll free customer service number, starting with 844 DOES NOT WORK. I live in Alaska and get a message not valid for my area, yet online CS Chat claims DOES work for Alaska and they will not provide another number for me to call, even if it is NOT toll free, so I could SPEAK voice to voice with a real person... I tried to log in to my Curiosity Stream account, will not allow it... though I verified all my information was correct. Impossible to CANCEL their services once you sign up for them since they will not allow you to go online to your account to do so... and I DO NOT TRUST the Chat Help since it is NOT a secured link... Don't buy worst customer service you can find,and they don't have answers for your problems when the app is not working

I sent a gift card to an elderly relative who determined they were not interested in the service. There was no way to cancel my gift through their website despite it only being a couple of days after the purchase. When I called them to discuss the situation they repeatedly said they would have to send my request to the billing department. When I asked to speak to someone in that department I was told they do not give out that number. When I asked them for a general timeframe for when I might hear back from them they said they could not give that information. I repeatedly stated I wasn't asking them to commit to a particular date but did they have an idea if it would be 2-3 days, a week or a month. Same answer from them again and again, which was no they could not say. I'm now left with a paid subscription for something I don't want, and by my experience (and now having seen other reviews) don't feel confident I will get a refund.  I wish I had seen these other reviews before signing up. I can't help feeling that there is really no recourse once they have your money. read more
