    Cheezy Bizness - mac'n'cheese w/ pulled pork

From the selection I chose the "Hot Mess". Something with a little heat was just what I was looking for. The sandwich was very delicious. It could have been a little more spicy, but the flavours were great either way. What I didn't like here was the wait. Upon ordering I was told it would be about 7 minutes. While I like the fact that they're making everything fresh, when I'm at a food truck expect my meal to be served up quickly.

I love cheese, so naturally, I was eager to check out this new food truck. We're not big fans of waiting in lines, so we arrived right at 11:30 and were served immediately. I ordered the mac'n'cheese sandwich with pulled pork and bf ordered the hot mess. The total came to $18 (no drinks or sides). Both sandwiches were amazing. The mac'n'cheese was creamy, the pulled pork was smoky, and the bread was a bit sweet. And of course there was some yummy cheese inside to hold it all together. The hot mess was just spicy enough. I would guess that extreme spice combined with cheese might not be that great. There was yummy seasoned ground beef, banana peppers, and a fried egg inside too. Fried to perfection - not so runny that you lose some yolk, but runny enough to drip onto the rest of the sandwich. If the sandwiches were $5 instead of $9, I would be 20 lbs heavier and looking for an apartment next to Cheezy Bizness HQ. It's probably a good thing the cost puts them in the "treat yo' self" category rather than an every day lunch category.

Noodle Bus Food Truck - beef pho satay and deep fried spring rolls

I got the tweet around 10:30 this am, just as I was starting to think about lunch. I brought a lunch from home today, but couldn't resist leaving it behind to get some pho satay. What's one more day in the fridge for left overs? I ordered the beef pho satay and deep fried spring rolls. Both were amazing, and very fresh tasting. Satay pho was $7 and spring rolls were $4.50. The soup alone would be a satisfying lunch. The soup broth is great, very flavorful. I may be wrong, but I think there is a bit of a peanut flavor in the broth? I would have liked the soup even more if it was served with bean sprouts and a lime. I am definitely going back to try the banana fritters and the vermicelli!

Now for my birthday, I wish that the Noodle Bus can park outside my house so I can eat pho and spring rolls all day. I was only able to try out the beef satay pho and spring rolls. I would not say that the pho is the best I've had ever but there's something in their broth that sets it above the other phos offered in the city. I can't quite figure out what it is and I'm not sure if I want to...I think I just wanna keep ordering and ordering more pho from them. The spring rolls are flavorful and at that right level of crisp without being too oily. Even though there was a line when I got to the truck I didn't really have to wait long before I can devour my food. The prices aren't far from the phos you can get around the city and their servings are quite large. So yes I love them and I will continue to stalk...errr...follow them on twitter :)

Why is it that the concept of food trucks excites me? Food carts are not exciting but put that on…read morea truck? That's cool. Anyway, Holy Crepe was my first food truck experience in Calgary. I like the urban spray paint style the the truck and the religious humour thrown in for good measure. I found the truck downtown at lunch time and it had a huge line. I felt bad for the other cool looking food truck with almost no customers and probably 25 people standing around waiting for Holy Crepe. The other truck eventually left way too early for the downtown lunch rush and it's not because they sold out if you catch my drift. I ordered the Eden and I was not disappointed - it's not really like any other "crepe" I've had before. I'd compare the experience more to a panini in a crepe - but that really works for them. For what you get it's a bit expensive and not overly filling but for a light lunch it's all good. Things got a bit messy - not a great thing for midday in work clothes - but 15 minutes working on a drip on my pants in the bathroom later was somehow worth it. I've had this idea of catering my upcoming wedding with a food truck (which these guys do btw) for a bit and this would be a strong contender.... maybe! Review 5 of 30 in Yelp's 30 Day Challenge

Review #12 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012…read more Being a big fan of crepes I was so happy to find a crepe food truck here in Calgary! A crepe truck that regularly parks near my home and workplace which makes it easy for me to have access to crepe! Ok, so the quality of crepe may not be the best quality I've had but the fillings are so tasty most of the time I can finish two crepes (savory and sweet) that's good for two. The crepe itself is thicker and doughy than I would like it to be but it's not that bad that it turns me off. I've tried their their Holy Smokes which is filled with really tender and flavorful smoked meat. It's also loaded with mushrooms, peppers, onions, etc. topped with cheese - yummm!! For the sweet crepes, I've tried the Sweet Baby Jesus which is just a smaller version of the Sweet Jesus. I always choose to fill mine with mangoes and nutella. I find it easier to say no to the Holy Smokes but the Sweet Baby Jesus is just too hard to resist! :)
