I started seeing Vanessa through virtual appointments to focus on an herbal treatment plan for my facial acne! Previously, I had been struggling with facial acne for about a year and a half. I felt like I had tried everything in the books (changing my diet, exercising more, spironolactone, not wearing makeup, pimple stickers, etc) and was really feeling lost and tired of not understanding the angry temperament of my skin. I had been wanting to explore the world of Chinese herbal medicine for a while, but felt extremely overwhelmed with how much knowledge there was to intake on my own. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine has spanned back centuries and I just didn't know where to begin. I also felt like there was a language barrier for me to enter with older establishments who have been practicing Chinese herbal medicine for years, and that those practitioners would really struggle to explain what was in my herbal treatments as well as what was going on with my diagnosis. There was just a lot of grey area to account for that made me feel uncomfortable. So when Vanessa started taking clients through online video appointments, I knew that I had to be a part of this! The consultation experience was fully encompassing and thorough. Vanessa asked me all sorts of different questions to get a gauge of what my needs were and she was able to promptly whip up a treatment plan within 2-3 days! The treatment plan focused on diet recommendations, skincare product recommendations and general lifestyle tips. Vanessa walked me through what my skin was experiencing was a mix of inflammation which was a by-product of weak lungs, a weak kidney, and weak liver. So through the recommendations and the herbal medicine, I would be able to strengthen my overall body health! The herbal medicine journey for me has been life changing. I'm seeing so much progress in my skin texture and the type of acne I get. I get a new formula from Vanessa every two weeks, and she updates my formula to cover my changing needs. Every time I get a new herbal formula, Vanessa also sends me the updated list of all the herbal components that were put into my formula, which is great! It empowers me to better understand what properties are going into my body versus having a long list of unpronounceable chemical compound names. Change in holistic health generally takes time to see the progress, but I continue to notice small improvements as time goes on. Today I had the opportunity to try acupuncture Although it was my second time trying it, it was my first time working with Vanessa and I have to say it was nothing less than transformative. She began by going over my physical and psychological history and then we proceeded with the needlework. I've seen Vanessa three times so far for facial acupuncture. I've been to other acupuncturists before, for physical issues as well as for a facial acupuncture once and I can assure anyone who reads this that her technique is incredible! Most people use a much more forceful technique to place the needles and often it leads to overstimulation or even real tension. She takes her time placing them, always checking the alignment when doing so to make sure each single one of them is placed perfectly. The fact that she tells you to inhale while she's placing the needles also helps a lot because that way the process is going with the flow of the energies and there's no harsh interruption of chi energy which can lead to weird twitches in the body, a strong stinging or tingling or even negative aftereffects. There's absolutely no pain or discomfort during the placement which is extraordinary. I've never experienced that before. She's really born for this kind of work. To top it off, she's super nice. I will give an update on how it has improved the skin tightness once a bit more time has passed to see lasting results but so far I'm absolutely loving it! read more
