Kind of ashamed I didn't review this place last year when we visited. So last year we were on our…read morehoneymoon and my wife's birthday was during our trip. All she wanted for her birthday was a nice afternoon tea. We left London and were basically driving sort of toward the coast just stopping wherever we found a tea shop. Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! Amazing people that went out of their way twice to make us happy. They will forever be apart of our story and hopefully we have the chance to return soon! Thank you!!!

We went for a couple of jacket potatoes with cheese and baked beans. They were served with coleslaw and a fresh salad garnish. Food was good, and portions was generous. Prices reasonable (just over £12 for two, including a pot of tea). Two criticisms: one was the hygiene in the cafe. All round the edges of the floor looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for a while, there were cobwebs running down the windows and even a bit of mould growing! Our lunch didn't come back to visit us later that day so I guess the food was okay. Shame the cleanliness of the place let it down though. Other criticism: it was really cold in there! Front door was wide open, and when we asked if it could be closed we were told that the cook was really hot so it had to be kept open. This meant that all the customers had to eat with their coats and jackets on. Hardly comfortable for mid-January! Disabled access not too bad: one half step and you're in (and in fact there was a lady in a specially adapted buggy sitting at one of the tables). Would we go back? You're not spoiled for choice for eateries in Seaford. If they cleaned up their cafe then yes we would, but only in warmer weather ...

The have a main room, a parlour and a delightful garden tucked away at the back. Walkers are invited to remove their muddy boots, children and dogs are welcomed as long as they behave, and smoking is prohibited even in the garden - yes there are rules, but this make for a pleasant experience for all. Tea is served in tin teapots, with bone china cups and saucers, every detail perfected even down to the delicately decorated teaspoons. Coffee is also available along with a wide range of home baked cakes, afternoon tea and fresh scones (the cheese and pecan scones are divine!) A full range of sandwiches, ploughman's lunches and homemade soups are also available for those with a larger appetite, as well as a hearty breakfast menu if you arrive before 12. I would recommend a visit to the village of Alfriston to anybody, it is a picturesque and quaint gem tucked away in the Sussex countryside. Take a walk on the Downs, visit the local pubs, but make sure you save time for a pot of tea and a cheese scone at Badger's!

If you're up for a proper cream tea, don't be fooled by the whimsical musings painted on the walls and look elsewhere. Was hoping for cream tea glory but got scones that tasted like they were out of a packet, not made 'fresh', and some so so sandwiches. Tea was fine, but that's hard to mess up. £££ - mighty expensive.

We decided that we were long overdue to go back as it's been two years and we were in the area. We'd also heard that the Cobbles is under new management. But don't worry, it's exactly the same! We were welcomed at the door by the new owners who showed us to a table and we proceeded to order loads of food! We decided to go in before the lunchtime rush (11ish) and were the only people there for a good 30 minutes! I had coffee, a cheese scone (you've got to have the cheese scones, they are delicious!), a jacket potato with beans, and then a piece of coffee cake for dessert. Elle had gunpowder tea, a cheese scone (gotta have one! - not gluten free though) a gluten free toasted ham and cheese sandwich and some gluten free chocolate cake! Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, the waiting staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We sat with the sun shining through the door, with little sparrows, robins and other little birds flying up to the door and looking back at us. It was a really wonderful start to a day and I can't recommend them highly enough, they never disappoint and everything is exactly the same as they had been when we last visited. Ate everything before I thought about photographs lol....Can't wait to visit again.....
