My husband…read moreregularly just goes "ohhh that was a really, really, really good eclair" weeks or months after he has had one for Real Patisserie with a wistful look in his eye. I've not had eclairs this good in the UK and we love them so much we had them as our wedding dessert. So few left over my mum was actually disappointed as I think she was hoping to live on them for a few days! Great service and really easy to communicate with. Oh and really really excellent eclairs!

They look and taste like bread, pastries and cake should but they lack the X factor. I've popped in there on a whim many times myself, bought a florentine, a macaroon, a slice of chocolate and pear tart and a loaf of walnut bread and always ended up feeling under-whelmed. I suspect one of the reasons people keep coming back to Real Patisserie is because (A) everything is modestly priced and (B) there aren't any other great bakeries around. Could someone persuade PAUL's to open a branch here?

Every single time there is a different pastry to try (or so it seems), along with cakes, sausage rolls (normal or spicy), chocolate, macrons (so many varieties - my favourite being salted caramel) and the most amazing different kinds of bread. Everything he sells is made the morning before the bakery opens and there is a limited amount. Once it's sold out its sold out! There are a few small tables and a sofa and it can get quite busy at the weekends. The guy who runs the place is very nice, as is all the staff. We love to sit down, order food and drinks, relax then take home tons of stuff to eat throughout the day! X

I have to say I was a bit sceptical of the huge macaroon/macaron trend in general, but these little bites were AMAZING! Originally we were just planning on trying some of the samples but we couldn't help but buy a bunch to share amongst us. I've tried a lot of patisseries, croissant is amazing, crunchy and fresh even by delivery. I've tried some macarons, it was lovely, very tasty and nice texture, nice aroma! I've tried a tart which was particularly insane and crusty! I've tried a mocha which was not really nice but apart that, I'm never disappointed! If you choose to get delivered, you even have a little macaron as a gift, a lovely touch! I can't wait to order again or to go back to the shop, love it!

We went in to Patisserie Valerie and they were very welcoming saying they too were closing but were happy to serve us. The coffee was good italian style. What I liked they didn't rush us and I will definitely be going back. The cakes looked divine. The only criticism was that the comfy chairs were really worn could do with some new ones.
