We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, which included the Cullen Skink, a salad with smoked salmon and crayfish, duck with a blackcurrant sauce and another fish entree that I don't exactly recall. The wine list was another matter with a limited offering requiring that I tasted every red before finding something that was acceptable. Our waitress, however, was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the process. After our meal, we had a chat with the owner who, we found out, was the artist in residence i.e. all the artwork was his. Nice ambience... cozy and we could hear ourselves talk. If I lived in Aberdeen, it would definitely be a regular spot especially since their menu is based on seasonal items and constantly changing. As we say in the film world, two thumbs up!

I was super excited to try out some quaint little afternoon tea places and was super happy when I got to decide where to go when my companions all realized they couldn't just pop into a Starbucks for a quick double-frappa-mocha-hold-the-whip-achino. Treehouse Coffee Shop hit all the right buttons for me... The servers were upbeat, happy and quick to help, the tea and coffee were excellent, they serve all day breakfast (at least they were when we went on a Sunday), and the prices are fair. A couple next to us had ordered afternoon tea which looked amazing but I couldn't convince any of my companions to partake so I had to settle for a cheese scone... Oh did I say settle? My scone was savory flaky deliciousness on a plate, served warm and then smothered in Irish salted butter... Served with a pot of English breakfast... Ca you say yum! Even my American friends were super delighted with their breakfast sandwiches, bagels and coffees... Will definitely be looking for an opportunity to head back here before we leave!
