As a visitor to both Aberdeen and Aberdeen University, I was delighted to discover this little gem of a coffee shop! The students all probably know about it, but visitors should be informed of this geat cafe as soon as they step on the campus.
The latte I had was amazing. Exactly what I needed before disappearing into a half day of intense seminars and discussion. (Unfortunately I couldn't find a flatwhite on the menu, but for once I didn't ask, perhaps if I had they would have made one?).
It's a simple place, with just a few small benches lined up against the wall to lean on while you wait/sip, but to be honest, even in the middle of winter, that is all you need. There is a delicious selection of muffins, brownies, slices and cakes to tempt the taste buds too. The locals tell me it is the best place for coffee on campus. I just wished I'd discovered it on the first day of my visit, rather than the last.
The signage makes little reference to the actual name of the place (sad face, plus coffee mug = happy face), so look out for that rather than "Kilau". I'm told this store has a big brother in town too read more
